Charge 4 stopped syncing and won't connect

Hi, my charge 4 stopped syncing 8 days ago. Trying to force a sync from the app didn't work, so I tried restarting the tracker, that didn't help. I wanted to re-pair the tracker to my phone, so I removed the device from my app, put my charge 4 on the charger and tried to pair it again, but my phone doesn't seem to be able to discover it. My phone sees other Bluetooth devices around the house, but not the charge 4. The connection dialog starts do doing something, but during the looking for a device step, the app shows an unspecific error message after a few seconds of looking for a device, saying: error. Something went wrong.

Any tips what else I could try?

Thank you for taking the time to share the details regarding the difficulty with your Charge 4 and for trying to fix it on your own.

I'm not sure if you already try the steps listed below:

  • Unpair your Charge 4 from your phone's Bluetooth and Fitbit app.
  • Unpair other Bluetooth devices that you may also have paired to your phone's Bluetooth settings.
  • Force quit the Fitbit app.
  • Turn off other Bluetooth connections when not in use. This can help to prevent connectivity issues or Bluetooth interference.
  • Shut off your phone and turn it on after 1-2 minutes.
  • Turn on the Bluetooth on your phone.
  • Plug it into the charging cable and open the Fitbit app.
  • Set up your Charge 4.
  • If there is no connection, restart your Charge 4.
  • Once your tracked is paired and syncing, please proceed to set up your other Bluetooth devices to your phone again.

With the steps above, what I want you to do is to pair your device first to your phone's Bluetooth settings before any other Bluetooth device is connected to your phone.

If you continue having syncing issues, please see Why can't I set up my Fitbit device?

Hi @ManuFitbit , thanks for the reply, I tried to follow your instructions and it did get me a bit further indeed. My phone was able to find the tracker, asked for the code that my Charge 4 was showing and from there, the tracker started showing a message saying: Download or update the Fitbit app to set up. So even though my Fitbit app was showing to be up todate, I uninstalled it and reinstalled it it again from the Google play store. It did look a bit different from the one I had at first, also required some new access permissions, but even now, I only got as far putting in the 4-digit code, after which I get the message about having to download the App on my Tracker and after trying to finish the setup for 20 minutes, the app just gives up and tries to redirect me to restarting the tracker and trying again... but to no avail.

UPDATE: It managed to connect on the third attempt, although it did take suspiciously long. But all seems to be working now. Thanks!
