My Fitbit is starting to behave strangely, and I don't understand why.
I'm pretty good at keeping its battery topped up; but lately, it has been on my wrist -- and well charged -- and complaining that it is not charging. My reaction has tended to be connecting it to the USB charger to top it up, but this evening (as just one example of this problem) it was at 76% capacity.
Am I overcharging the battery because I'm getting this error message? Is my battery going to fail? Should I ignore this error message when I know the battery is fine? Is my device failing in some other fundamental way? It's not that old, and it has been well cared for.

That's interesting because I too have been getting the same message the last few days. Mine is only 15mths old, just replaced the strap on it. I usually only charge it when I see the battery levels are down when I sync (which I do daily) or when I get an email telling me my battery is low.
Would love to know the answer to this as well.

My Charge 4 (given to me a year ago) has only been worn 1 week as I’ve been waiting for my Charge 2 to die. Today I got the message that “battery is not charging - check charger”. This is when it is 90% full and on my arm. I googled the situation and there are many people complaining of the same thing, most are posted some time ago, but I did not see any solution. I’m going to continue to hunt for an answer but would appreciate any insight into this odd message. I was able to get back to the normal clock face after pushing the side button a few times but others are saying that does not always work. They were also angry about the lack of response from Fitbit.

I’ve had this happen a few times. Seemed to happen when I was sweaty from working out or hot, humid weather. My theory is that the sweat is connecting with the charging contacts on the watch and making it think a charger is attached. But that is purely an unofficial theory.
