@Daniel2020  Read the rest of the thread.  There is a work around that seems to do the trick at the cost of battery life, while Fitbit try to fix the GPS Dynamic setting.

I can't find "GPS settings" on my Charge 4.  It's not in the settings app.

GPS settings are as follows - from the home screen (clock) swipe left and after about 3 swipes (depending on how many apps you have on the device) you will see the setting icon, touch the icon and then swipe up until you see GPS (it's second from the bottom) touch GPS and you are in the GPS settings. When set as you desire touch the side sensor 3 times and it takes you back to your home screen.

Thanks. I did that.  But GPS is not one of the settings.  I have Brightness, Vibrations, Heart Rate, Do Not Disturb, Notifications During Sleep, and About.  No GPS.

You should have in  addition "active zone minutes", "Screen time out" then GPS. Go into "about" and see which version you have. Also, look in your phone App and see the version (it's in the Help section) To be up to date the device version should be 48.20001.96.29 and the phone app 3.27 (20243520)

If you are not up to date you need to frequently synchronise your Charge 4 with the App in the phone and the updates will eventually arrive. ( it could take some time)

There may be a quicker way but I have no experience of it - perhaps a moderator will pop up.

Thanks.  No I don't have the most recent version.  I have 48.20001.78.33.  Phone app is up to date.  But now I have bigger issues.  I haven't been able to sync since Monday evening and the device is not showing up under my Bluetooth settings.....

I suggest you contact support or put up a detailed new post with which a moderator can assist you, this is not something I'm familiar with.

Thanks.  I will give it a shot.  My aim is to be able to use the Charge 4 without having to use the phone GPS, which was the purpose of acquiring the Charge 4.

Thanks.  I will play with it.  I have a Charge 2 which is still functional and I went to the Charge 4 in the hope of not having to bring the phone along.

Concur.  I may be one of the ones jumping ship.

Thanks.   I have to wait for my firmware version to update to this version.  I don't have an option for GPS settings currently...

Best Answer

That’s very strange as on the charge 4 they are there , You do have to scroll up a bit to locate it

I would call support

Not available on firmware version 48.20001.78.33 which I have.  The most recent firmware version is 48.20001.96.29 and they apparently roll out the updates gradually....

It looks like there is a way to manually get the latest firmware.

  • Using the Fitbit phone app, tap on the Charge 4 icon at the upper left of the screen
  • On the Account screen that appears, scroll down until you see "Help" under the DISCOVER section.
  • Tap on the > to the right of where it says Help
  • At the bottom of the Help screen, it should say "Check for Charge 4 update".  Tap on that to get the latest firmware.

GPS settings are on the Charge 4. When you swipe right to left you should get a first page that says Exercise and Spotify. Continue swiping right to left until you get to the end and there is Settings. Tap Settings and then swipe up. GPS Settings is second from last.

Noting the above, if you do not have these settings on your device you are due an update which will install them. Updates are transferred in the background when you sync your device to the App.

It's not that obvious, is it? It's on your Firbit itself, swipe right from
your clock screen to the fourth display that shows 'Weather' and
'Settings'. tap 'Settings', scrwl down 4 screens to 'GPS Settings and
you'll see the two optional GPS settings - GPS Mode and 'Glonass'.

I'm afraid my charge 4 is going back in its Bix and being returned. I thought 8 was the only one having issues until I googled Charge 4 not syncing and charge 4 not connecting to GPS. Duff useless product. Worst purchase ever 😞

Agree. I just shipped mine back yesterday and bought a Garmin. So much better. Very disappointed in Fitbit- I’ve used them for years ☹️

Can I ask which Garmin you bought? I've just received my return label for
fitbit.

Thanks Liz
