Charge 4 won't stop exercises

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

My exercise tracker on the Charge 4 won’t stop. It will pause, but not stop. It said to press the button again. When I press it on the face it continues to run. When I press it on the side it pauses and starts again. My Fitbit is less than a week old.

Hi @Vmcmillen,

Can you try pressing the side button twice? (not the "button" on the face/screen/display, but the side of the tracker itself)

The first time it should pause the exercise. Then press the side button again (not the play button on the face/screen/display). Then you should see a "Finish" option on the top that you can tap. Then your post-workout summary should show. You can either swipe up to see all your workout summary stats and then press the check "button" on the screen/display, or you can press the side button to return to the Apps (and then swipe right or press the side button to return to your clock face).

Does that help?

Are you following the instructions on page 36 of your user manual?

I don't have an instruction manual.  I just got a brand new Charge a week ago.  No manual was sent.

It would go from pausing to starting the activity tracker again.

When I finally got it to respond 2 hours later, I had to plug it into the charger and then hold the button the side for a minute to finally respond to finish on the exercise tracker.  Hopefully, some updates will happen sooner rather than later.

Thank you,

I had the same thing for 63 hours!!! I was advised to restart for 8 seconds and finally it works. I could not even get a clock face.

The manual can be found in the index in the Fitbit app on your phone, titled help.

Hello guys, I hope you are doing fine.

I am sorry for the delay in response and appreciate the help provided here. Regarding your inquiry, to end a workout, press the tracker's home button and tap Finish. After this you can swipe up to see your workout summary and tap the check mark to close the summary screen.

Same for my brand new fitbit HR 4.  First time out on a run.  Very fiddly to start and impossible to stop.  Each time I pressed the side button it just went back to pause and trying to find a way to stop just took me to the Sleep and DNS app.  As pressing the button did not work there is no way to stop the exercise tracking.  Very frustrating and when I got home the watch would not sync with my fitbit app on the phone with just "no device found" each time I tried to sync.  Recharging both phone and device has so far not helped.

Now thst the app has been restarted a few times it seems to be working. I can get the exercise to stop but it takes many steps. I wish it could be turned off more quickly. Thanks for your help.

I agree very difficult to stop the exercise timer on the Charge 4.

You have to pause it and then try get the other hand to hit the button but not too hard otherwise it goes into Tap to Unlock mode and need to enter my passcode.

Please fix this and if you were slightly handicapped it would be impossible as need both hands to perform the exercise stop function.

Yet, its seems I have to go through many steps to turn it off. And if you choose the wrong one, you get into another program. Making it simpler would be a big improvement.

I cant say that it is difficult but based on the complaints with the Charge 2 and how a coat or wrist band can in one step turn off the tracking of a run. Fitbit made turning off  a multiple step process.

Okay I see now how a one step would cause problems. I am getting better at turning it off now. Thanks

I apologize for the delay in response, due to recent events affecting our operations, support options are limited and wait times are longer than usual..

As mentioned previously, if you want to end a workout, press the tracker's home button and tap Finish. After this you can swipe up to see your workout summary and tap the check mark to close the summary screen. It's great to know that some of you are getting better at it.

When the timer is on (recording) it is very difficult to stop. Whatever I do for example tap on the screen or swipe up or down or left or right I cannot get it to stop, only, if I am lucky, to pause. It is so frustrating that I have stopped using the exercise app and gone back to carrying my phone to record on Strava. At least I know Strava works.
