i have only had my fit bit 17 months and am very disappointed at its non performance. I could not get any response from the fitibit. I tried the restart and got a happy face which lasted about 2 minutes . The fitbit was still syncing to the app and at that time said the battery was 40% charged. Whilst charging the fitbit itself got exceptionally hot for about an hour then went completely dead. I purchased a new charger thinking the charger might be at fault.

When I connected the new charger it was no different but the fitbit was vibrating for a long time and also making a humming noise which could be heard in next room!! When I restarted it I was able to sync and battery power read 1%. It continued to charge until 7% then seemed to die again and is now dropping back to 1%. This time after restarting the fitbit now probably about 20 times the display showed  fitbit not charging.....well I knew that anyway. So basically I have tried everything . Both chargers seem to do the same thing so the money was wasted completely on a replacement. If there is no solution to this I do not think I will ever buy another fitbit as I never expected it to only last 17 months

Exact same issue.

Bought mine in UK,  living in Dubai, UAE.

Bought 2 together with my wife, hers is fine, only 17 months ago.

I found some articles about it online.

I managed to erase all user data and reset my fitbit and pair with my phone from scratch.

That seemed to help for maybe an hour, then started acting up again.

It showed charging, reached 70%, then started draining the battery while plugged in, went a the way to zero and got super hot, vibrating like crazy.

And now it's dead again.

seems like the same fault. as you are in dubai and we have been having a heatwave maybe the fitbit batteries are affected adversely by the hot weather. Anyway I am now talking to fitbit support and they told me that I will need to send it to them so they can investigare
