This is a common and persistent issue which seems to be initially reported almost two years ago: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Charge-4-piece-that-latches-to-wristband-broke/td-p/4591186.
Being an engineer developing new products and doing lots of post-commercialization optimization in a similar domain, I am surprised no real action has been taken to fix this issue while having customers to keep complaining and being frustrated - this is a high-impact item they should have looked into and fixed long time ago given its occurrence and severity.
Regarding my personal experience vs. some of the reported cases happening within the first few months, I think I am the "lucky" guy who only encountered this issue in 1.2 years (with care and indeed not using it very often). In the other end, I am not the "lucky" guy as I am just out of the one-year warranty (I do not think I will accept the discount offer they provided for purchasing a new product at this time).
Indeed, this is my first fitbit product which I had high hope for being fantastic.. But now I am somewhat disappointed.

My fitbit wrist band also broke after 2 years. I didn't want to pay $35 for another band. Someone suggested Amazon. They don't really need my money but I didn't want to pay much. I got two bands for the Charge 4 fitbit for $10. So that was a reasonable price. I have had a Fitbit One (original design) for about 8 years now. It still is working, sometimes new and all the fancy gadgets are not as good.

Thanks for sharing your experience and suggestions, Lynda.
In my case, it was not the band which broke - that would be easy to fix if it is the case. Instead, it is the the little nub on the main watch which could not be easily fixed (there is a photo in this thread from another reporter: https://community.fitbit.com/t5/Charge-4/Product-real-life-2-years-2-months-broken-wristband-support...).

From reading about the ongoing problems with the connector on the charge 4 wristband, I have to ask why Fitbit continues to sell theses without fixing the issue! This should have been recalled in my option. They knowingly kept selling Charge 4 to unsuspecting consumers. I was one of those people who purchased my Charge 4 at Costco. Since I am just over the warranty period , they offered me 35% off a new tracker! Outrageous!!
after logging into the Fitbit Customer forum, I realized this has been an ongoing issue for s several years. I have been a Fitbit customer fir many years, having previously owned about 4 different Fitbit trackers. I find this to be terrible customer service..
as a side note….I used chat with customer service. It seems like the agent was promoting getting a new wristband and didn’t really want to hear that the connector was the problem.
