Charge 4 wristband connector broken.

I absolutely love my charge 4 and never had any issue with it. It was perfectly fine until the wristband connector broken whilst getting dressed!!!

Is it covered by the warranty? The store I bought it from claims not. I have never dropped it or misused it in any way for it to break. I was putting on a sweatshirt and snap it broke.

I may have to get myself a Twitter account for this sole purpose!! 😋

I’m sorry that your Charge 4 is giving you more problems. The fact that you have a 2 year warranty is good news. Save some time and take some pictures to have ready if they ask for them. I would definitely contact them through Twitter. I hope that you can get this resolved quickly. Good luck!

SOLUTION! I had the same problem. It appears the Charge 4 commonly has this problem at about 14 months. I ordered an after market band "Nylon Watch Band For Fitbit Charge 3/charge4 Sport Loop Strap Wristband Bracelet" on e-bay. It cost $8.99 plus tax. It is comfortable and in wearing it for the last 18 hours or so, including while I slept, it has not come apart.  The only caveat is it may not fit large wrists.  My wrist is 7.5" and I'm able to slip it on without completely opening it. Good Luck.

How did you get a replacement? Mine was at about 15 months with the same problem. I was offered 35% off my next purchase. They lost a long-time customer with me.

England & Australia are two of the countries that have a 2-year warranty most all others just have the one year. I would love to know if there are people out there that were out of warranty that received a replacement because if they do it for one they should do it for all.

thanks again for all your help.

great news (and major relief!), is that in the past 48hrs I have received a reply from Fitbit and offer to replace (or 50% off Charge 5) the watch. This was actually in reply to me using the option for a “Broken Band?” on their Get Support page, to which I attached pics of the broken connector. Will hopefully receive a new one within the week ?  I am making do in the meantime w/ my previous Garmin Vivosmart 4, the band on which is only barely still holding together. (This was my 3rd replacement of these as the bands kept “tearing” and becoming unusable!)  @afallen please take note of this when looking into the Garmins ☺️

thanks! I have a 245 I use already. but I'm looking to upgrade that.
was your charge within the warranty period? Unfortunately, those of us who fall outside of the warranty on a known, defective product, are being left with a 35% off option instead. The discount is nice but honestly does not equate to the fact that the charge has known problems.

Anyway glad to hear you are having better luck and thanks for the feeedback on the vivosmart. I think I looking at the 745 at this point but to be determined

That’s wonderful news.  In case you didn’t know, they will only be sending you a pebble, no band, no charger, it will probably be a refurbished one and the warranty on that one will expire when your original warranty ends. Be aware that many have had issues with their replacement and have had to return them for another. I hope that this isn’t the case with you and you actually get a new one!  Yeah! A happy ending! Take care.

Hi, Unfortunately, I needed to retire early due to health reasons so I am on a fixed budget.  I have other Fitbits ( zip, one, Alta hr, inspire & charge 3) that I can use, but I brought 2 used Charge 4’s on an auction site for $10 each.  It was within my budget and that is all that I think the Charge 4 is worth.  No matter how long they last me I am happy. If you do find a reasonable, reliable product, please let me know.  Thank you

Hey, thanks very much. I didn't get the impression I'd just be getting a pebble as asked about watch colour etc, but I may well be wrong.

Fingers crossed this one is without issue...will give you guys an update when it arrives (as well as what they have to say about the warranty).

Take care

You may be lucky and they still have new ones available as a replacement, that would be great!  I believe that here in the US all new ones are depleted. Here’s hoping that you and your new Fitbit are together for a long, long time.

More than likely not, unless you bought an extended warranty or you live in one of the countries that have a 2 year warranty, but contact support to verify.

Amazon has third party bands for the Charge 4 that are very reasonable.  Good luck

Wow. In the USA, the day after the warranty is over it's our problem. This is clearly about a Charge 4 defect known to fitbit early on. The company policy is apparently to wait until our units fail and then offer us 35% off another product, but NOT the charge 5, which I can get from Costco for $116. I finally gave up trying to keep it on my wrist and glued the band on after ordering a different fitness tracker. My strap connector gave out within a couple weeks of the 1 year warranty expiration. This speaks poorly of the company. It made a big mistake in the design of the Charge 4 and doesn't care about those of us who bought their product, or why we bought it. I realize some people bought theirs as a novelty. I bought mine following four stents being put in my heart. I want the feedback to keep me focused on getting the exercise I need.

I just want to buy the replacement part so I can reconnect to a wristband.  Is there no option to do that?  I don't need anything for free or a full replacement, just the connector part. 😞

Sadly, Fitbit does not offer replacement parts, Amazon offers third party watch bands that the pebble fits into to secure so the attachment part is not needed. They are not fashionable but they fix the problem. Good luck

There is no option to get a replacement which really would solve a lot of the issues here in my opinion. There is a third-party band that holds the main piece of the Fitbit but because of its design you can wear it on your wrist but you lose the sleep and heart rate monitoring. If you’re in a real financial pinch it might be worth it to buy yourself some time, but if you’re trying to use it for what it should do then the band is of no help

The third party band I have still monitors my sleep and heart rate.

Did you get it at amazon?

Best Answer

LOL….it’s still here!  I curious, which band did you get, because my heart & sleep work me.

Best Answer

LOL I bought this one so maybe I should look around further? Noticed it hasn’t been tracking my heart rate of sleep. Doesn’t fit as snug if that makes sense. Yet it does track steps pretty accurately.
