Charge HR Suddenly Stopped Working

Hi There. My fitbit charge HR is onle 7 months old and it (for some reason) has stopped working.

I charged it last night, put it on this morning fully charged, checked the time at 830 ish and the time was off by about 25 mins. I synced to my android phone app and the time corrected itself on the fitbit. Not even a half hour later i tried again to check the time - it only had the fitbit logo and the version number (122) then went blank again. As of noon or so today I can even get the fitbit to turn on or show anything on the screen. The heartbeat monitor light isnt even on and now I cant connect to it via bluetooth or via the cord.

Please advise how to correct this asap

I would like to add to this conversation. My replacement Fitbit had been working great since I received it in January. This weekend it decided to give out on me. The battery used to last almost 7 days and the time was reliable. Now it will not hold a charge, will not sync, and does not display the correct time. I loved my Fitbit but now I guess it is time to part ways. I have been troubleshooting over the past two days. It was fully charged two hours ago, now has half a charge. It still will not sync. I am afraid I am going to lose whatever steps were recorded for the day. There was no physical trauma to the unit, I was using it as I normally do, one day after a few days out from charging it died and has not come back since. This was replacement number 4. I am very sad and frustrated with the lack of quality control that Fitbit has shown.

I think lots of problems with Fitbit I just received a new/refurbished
unit after mine died about 2 weeks ago and 10 months after purchase. In the
packaging, NO DIRECTIONS, NO WARNINGS, Just the unit. You would think that
FITBIT could give some instructions as to how to charge (time and where to
charge), how to re-sync my old data with this unit, etc.

I am not surprise that so many are having problems. I will NOT purchase
another one if this one goes out on me. Just wasted $129 or so.

Just an FYI on Fitbit support, sounds pretty suspect:

Ben M.: At this point I recommend to ship back the item to our warehouse to investigate the root cause of the issue. Once it is in there we'll start with the replacement process (if applicable)

Ben M.: I can provide you with a prepaid FedEx label to ship it back to our warehouse

Me: What happens if the replacement process is not applicable?

Ben M.: I'm not entitled to provide you with that information, sorry

I used to tell people how great your company was, but now not so much.

Request replacement

After you get new one/refurbished,
Charge only 2 hrs max
Charge only via your computer
Has to do with overcharging the circuit.

Hope this helps.

I have always taken great care of my Charge HR and recommended it to many other people. On the weekend it suddently stopped working, yet it was recently charged.  I checked all contacts and cables etc.  I checked online for assistance and tried to restart it.  Finally I called for assistance.  It turns out the tracker has a defective battery, but since it is 2 months past the 1 YEAR warranty, all that Fitbit will do is give me a 25% discuount on a new purchase.  Seems like many others are having similar problems.  If your tracker starts to have issues ... don't restart and hope that this fixes the problem.  It worked for me once ... but then ended up pushing me past the warranty date!

I wish that the company with one of the most popular trackers would at least stand by their product! No longer recommending this product!

My Fitbit Charge HR stopped working. I synched in around 730 AM and checked my status about 11 AM. At about 1 PM I checked my phone to get my status when I noticed it wouldn't sync. I checked the band and it was blank. Checke the back and no green light. I put it on the charger for about 6 hours and still nothing. The Fitbit is about 5 months old.

Mine is operating sporadically and has since I purchased it. I will buy a different product in the future, which is a shame as most of my friends have FBs and we were trying to do the challenges.

Hi HeydyFitbit!  My Charge HR just completely stopped on Sunday.  Blank screen.  Nothing!  I did what you suggested to another customer and YAY, it worked!  THANK YOU!  But now I have another problem.  I'm old and tech challenged.  It is now 2:35pm on Aug 16, but my Fitbit says it is 12:21 Aug 13..  How, pray tell, do I bring it up to date?

My HR is only 10 months old. I wore it this AM, the ! came up, after I got home I plugged it in. I kept checking it but it wasn't showing charge. After 4-5 hours it said it was fully charged. I took it off the charger, put it on and had to leave again. After we left about 20 minutes, I went to check the time and the ! popped up again. I tried using my phone to check on the battery, it said it was dead. It wouldn't turn on. I got home at 6:30-7 pm plugged it in and contacted customer support on the phone. He had me check the conection between the charger cord and the fitbit then restart it. Didn't restart. He had me check the battery using my phone and even on his side it is showing no battery life at all and it won't turn on. It has charged for 2 hours I have been trying to restart it, no HR lights, no screen light or words, nothing. He told me to use someone elses charger and see if it would work... it however doesn't seem to be working. How do I get them to do the warranty when it was a gift and no the person doesn't have the reciept anymore and never gave me it.

Try cleaning the contacts with a damp tooth brush. They recommend Cetaphil or another non-soap cleaner, but I didn't have any so just used the damp tooth brush. It worked. Mine has been charging fine since. Before I did this, I uninstalled and reinstalled the application, cleared my phone's browser/settings, etc and turned it off for two minutes. Still didn't hold a charge even though it looked like it was charging. I think the contact cleaning did it.

the guy had me use a q-tip with some rubbing alcohol to clean the contacts. I forgot to put that in there... it still didn't work and the contacts from the chargers were both clean and the fit bit looks a little dirty but I can't get anything inside the plug in to clean it... plus it might break it. I clean it often.

This and another so-called solution did not work. Had to buy another rather than get in line and wait for Fitbit reps to get back to me.

My Charge HR stopped working this morning.. I had charged it over night (Oops!). Had not read anywhere that would be a problem. Have reset it multiple times and would verify that the V122 would display each time. At one point it did record 95 steps. Then stopped again. Reset again always using the steps provided elsewhere on this subject. After several resets I could see that it was not fully charged so let it sit on the charging cable for an hour. Then did a reset (again). Looks like it started working and the step count has increased. Oh and the pulse rate is finally showing that I have a pulse. That was not working all morning either. The green LEDs were not on whenever I would look.

There is definately a sofware bug in this V122 code release. Just don't see FitBit doing anything to correct the problem.

Thank you. I'm using the replacement Charge 2. Let's hope it lasts longer
than the 8 mos. that the Charge HR lasted! I think Fitbit should have given
me something - say, a partial rebate or a credit to buy a scale -
for buying 2 Fitbits in less than 1 year. My HR was never abused (in water,
overcharged, etc.)

Sorry to hear you bought another one. I called the Fitbit support center and they sent me another one free of charge. I'm on my 8th month with this one so we'll see how long it continues. If this one doesn't hold up, I'll probably switch to a new brand.
