Can anyone please tell me what is the normal or reasonable expected life span of thr charge hr?

I'm actually really surprised by everyone having such short lifespans over multiple devices. I had mine for 3 years 2 months before it died completely. Wore it constantly except for the shower and pool, and had no issues with anything falling apart. It won't turn on anymore but if it did I reckon I'd be able to wear it for another three years.

My FitBit Alta HR is barely two years old. I have worn it almost every day but have taken meticulous care of it. It stopped tracking my heart rate last week and after minimal attempt from customer service to troubleshoot it, all they could do was offer me a 25% discount to buy another FitBit. Why would I spend more money on something that will stop working within a couple of years from a company that thinks the only viable solution is to make a customer spend more money on something that isn't  durable? So disappointed in the product, and even more in the customer service.

The same with my Blaze . Was a mistake buying a Fitbit product in the first
instance. Faceless internet company. Never any human contact. Money wasted.

I believe in it all how you charge it

See this thread for charging best practices. If you are not charging it correctly you could be damaging the battery

I'm on my fourth HR. HR #1 10 months, HR #2 16 months, HR #3 DOA, HR #4 now 6 weeks old, but has never held a charge more than about 2 days.

I would not buy another HR because I don't think they make them any more and the batteries seem to have a limited shelf-life, even unused. When it works it is the perfect fitness band for me.

I am trying to charge no more than 45 minutes and charge as soon as I get a low battery notice. I used to charge sometimes for several hours, trying to make sure that the HR was fully charged. But the forums suggest charging it before it gets too low and not recharging to 100% is better for the battery. So we'll see. I have 5000 stairs to the next stairs badge. That could be 5 months away. Hope this HR lasts that long!

Unfortunately, my experience has been about 1.5 yrs. I’ve had the charge, chargeHR, and Ionic. All seem to malfunction and require replacement after warranty expires and just around the 1.5 yr mark. The nice thing Fitbit does is offer a discount of 40% for a replacement however that drives up the cost of the watch you buy into. After being a customer and fan for a long time I’m starting to consider trying something else

True. Seems with all Fitbit units. And by offering you a discount, Fitbit
is locking you into the family.

I’m sure happy I read the reviews but wish I’d RE them before I purchased, this Fitbit Alta did stack up to the  hype, where’s the standard for this garbage :wastebasket: it worked well for a few months then wham just like that this thing doesn’t hold a charge 😳. Looking for another product 👌
