I have a Charge HR that previously worked flawlessly, it was my wifes' and I bought her a new model. I upgraded the firmware and I am now using it since my Charge non-HR display quit working.
Everything works on this Charge HR except for the heart rate. My green lights flash on the back but it doesn't show heart rate. Teh HR function has always worked previously. I confirmed the heart rate was turned ON in the app, I then turned it OFF for a few minutes and then back ON. At that point my heart rate showed 70 for a short period, I also saw the heart flashing on the fitbit but the rate reading then went to --. The unit is tight on my wrist and its above my wrist bone. I plan to do a hard format when I get home, I don't have the charging cable with me. Does anyone have other suggestions?

@LyndMc Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!
Let me help you with this and thank you for troubleshooting this issue. I suggest you try the following (that includes some steps you have already tried): clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device.
Let me know how it goes.

I plugged in my charger cable, held the button down for 10 seconds, pulled the cable, released the button and instantly hit it again. I didn’t see the version pop up on the screen, but my green lights instantly got busy. I put the Fitbit back on and it’s working like a charm reading heart rate!
