Charge floor count highly inaccurate

I spent most of the day in one room giving a training.  At the end of the work day, my charge said I had climbed 18 flights of stairs.  Ridiculous!  What's more, I feel that the steps were way low.  In the past, I've compared a Fitbit that recorded stairs against one that didn't.  The one that recorded stairs had too many flights of stairs and about 1,000 fewer steps than the device that didn't count stairs.

I've loved having a Fitbit and I had upgraded about 3 times.  This might be the last time, if the upgrades count stairs and steps as oddly.

I have had my fitbit charge since November. I haven't had an issue with floor counts being inaccurate until last week. Nothing in my daily routine has changed. In the last week it has counted 97 floors one day, 82 for the next, and 67 another. Today it has recorded 32 floors. I know all of this is inaccurate. Why after 6 months almost 7 would this get so wilding inaccurate?

I'm having the same problem. I've had my FB Charge HR since Jan of this year and all of a sudden, last week, the floors count went way out of whack!

Here is another problem with Charge Floor Count being Highly Inaccurate.  I have only had my Charge since the middle of April and have been please with it up until the last few days.  Since last Friday, my floor counts have been extremely exaggerated.  I tried restarting my Charge last night before I went to bed and when I woke up this morning, it said I had already done 34 floors.  This is really messing up my overall totals.

Please help and tell me what I can do to get this problem fixed.  I've only had this for about 4 months and am a little unhappy that I am having problems already.

Thanks in advance!!

Hi everyone. Incorrect floor count can be caused by several reasons. Your tracker uses it's altimeter to detect change in atmospheric pressure and this is how it determines that you have climbed floors but there are some situations that may induce an incorrect reading. For example if the weather is windy or the actual pressure is changing (this happens a lot during rainy season). If you are on a car the AC (this also apply to offices or homes) may cause a variance in pressure or you are actually driving through a hilly area. Finally if the altimeter is blocked by sweat or moisture it can also cause this to happen. Just take this info into consideration when you see a high reading on your device. If you don't believe any of these apply to your tracker then please contact our Support Team for further assistance.

Let me know how it goes!

AC changes humidity and temperature, it does not affect barometric air pressure.

I recently spent all day working in the yard and achieved 30k steps... however - i also apparently achieved the "Rollercoaster badge" for achieving more than 125 floors... I never climbed 1.

THIS IS A BUG AND FITBIT SHOUDL FIX IT!!!

Hi,

I fell asleep around midnight last night, and when I woke up, I realised i have "climbed" 13 floors. I do not do moonwalking, so this it is fair to say, reading other comments, that there is some bug behind it. I do not sleep under A/C either, nor my apartment moves 🙂

Kind regards

It said yesterday I climbed 249 floors even though all I did was walk in the city any my iphone registered 11 floors. This is either a bug or altimeter is just broken.  I contacted customer service and all I got was stock responses on how the altimeter can be affected by 'wind gusts', etc, basically some bs explanation. I asked for replacement but no chance with them. Its not just floors, other stats are suspect too. Will never buy anything fitbit again.

I, unfortunately, bought a Charge 4 a few months ago and am having the same problem. I called support a couple weeks ago and they told me to reset which did absolutely nothing to resolve the issue. Before I get out of bed it shows I've climbed 1-2 flights of stairs. I mean, seriously?! Today I *MIGHT* have climbed 5 flights and it's showing 61. The Garmin device I owned had its issues but never anything like this. This thing is an absolute waste of money and I will never buy a FitBit again.

This happens to me too. Not sure I like the reasons given by Fitbit. Probably needs some sort of fix.

The response from Fitbit is unacceptable. Given the number of issues reported on this, the fact that they are selling products with this "altimeter" is shameful. It clearly doesn't work. I've ordered a Garmin Vivoactive 3 and eagerly await its arrival so I can have a useful device.

I have a charge 2 and have had it about 3 years now with no problems.  I have noticed that since Friday its changed.  I know I did an update on a few of my apps and wondering if this is what has started the inaccuracy.  I mean on Saturday it says i climbed 664 floors!!!! Have you had anymore replies from Fitbi??

Thanks - Carrol

I don’t recall seeing a reply from Fitbit but previous posts from them
indicated high heat and humidity can cause errors. Not a good explanation
in my opinion but I have to be honest my issues did occur during a heat
wave.
Cheers.

Fitbit is not straight with users. There is a bug and they would not admit. Given that they are a big company owned by google now there is really nothing for us to do here . I don’t use Fitbit any longer and looking for alternatives.

I just got 7 floors by jagging in place, in my basement. I never had this problem until a few months ago. It’s never a dull moment with the Sense. Constant fiddling and babysitting.

I’m having the same issue with my sense…today was a lazy day only 3600 steps and says I did 66 flights of stairs. 😞
