For the past month my charge 2 has been quadrupling, at the minimum, the number of floors I climb each day. I have restarted the unit several times hoping that this would help resolve the problem, no such luck. On Monday of this week it had me at 236 floors in one day, every day this week it has been at over 100 a day. Usually, I'm in the 20 to 40 range and consider my stair climbing to be a valuable part of my activity. It's at the point now that I can't trust any thing it records with regard to flights climbed. I'm also concerned that all these extra added flights scew my step count as well. Any suggestions of how to fix this problem would be appreciated.

If your weight, age, height, and gender are not set up correctly, your calloriecg count will be off.
Have you restarted your tracker yet. this might be all that is needed to fix the stair count.
However any decrease in air pressure may add stairs.

Have you tried restarting your tracker?? Many have found it might take three restarts.
It could simply be the restart did not go smoothly after the firmware update,

My Charge 2 just started tripling my floor count; I am going to do a hard restart, but if I have to "set up as new device" will all my old historical data be erased?

Any data already synced to your Fitbit account is no longer on your tracker.
As for a hard reset on the Charge 2, I'm wondering where you found the procedure for this?
The Charge 2 doesn't have a hard reset, this would not require setting the tracker up again, but would require turning the tracker off.
A factory reset I think is what your reffering to, but the Charge 2 does not have the ability to do a family Tory reset.
My suggestion would be to set the tracker up as a replacement device, no need to remove from your account .

I've read everything I can on the issue of my Charge 2 adding too many floors. Fitbit called it solved if you reset or reinstall your Fitbit. I've done all of these and still get 3 or more floors for the one I've climbed. This began 3 days ago. Any additional ideas?

My Fitbit Charge 2 is also recording too many stairs. I have reset and set up as a device many times. It's okay for a day or two then goes back to recording too many stairs. I really don't want to get a new fitbit. Any suggestions would be helpful.

I've had mine for 2 years also. I'm wondering if the vibration from my Harley broke the altimeter. I know that sounds strange, but since I put the lift kit on my trike, seems it does vibrate more. I did reset it as a new device first thing this morning, before putting it on, and it's recording more stairs than I actually climbed. I'm somewhat disappointed also that it only lasted 2 years. Will start looking to purchase a new one.

Okay, there was something blocking the little hole at the top back of the watch (yuck). Hopefully this will help it. Thank you
