This problem may have been going on before I updated the app, but it's definitely not working now!

I am having the same issue, for the past week only getting a basic sleep score, the app is saying its because of an inconsistent heart rate but I check the heart rate separately and there are no issues. I am doing nothing different so don't understand why I'm only now experiencing issues

Welcome to the Fitbit Community @Nottzgal41.
Thank you for reporting the issue you are experiencing with your sleep score.
If you see a Sleep Pattern (time asleep, restless, and awake) instead of Sleep Stages (light sleep, deep sleep, and REM), please be aware there are a few scenarios where you might see your Sleep Pattern instead of Sleep Stages:
Your overall nightly sleep score is based on your heart rate, the time you spend awake or restless, and your Sleep Stages. Note that you must see sleep stages to see sleep score. For information about how sleep score works, please visit this article.
If this doesn't address your question, please attach an image of the basic sleep score shown on your Fitbit app.
If you have any question, please let us know.

I've had no issues seeing the detailed stages until just over a week ago, now I'm only seeing the basic sleep pattern.
When I check my heart rate separately its showing complete so I have no idea why its saying it couldn't get a consistent heart rate reading. None of the scenarios mentioned in your post apply to me.
I have attached the average sleep score for the past week showing it not recording.
Its getting pretty frustrating as I'm not doing any different.
