I have just had to return my Charge 3 after only buying it on 3/11/18.
Display stopped working for no apparent reason. Store Tech said he had never seen it happen before. So replaced it. So not impressed.

Display stopped working. Plugged in to charger for 24+ hours, no improvement. Tried holding the button down for 8" as suggested, got the smiley face. But now all I have is the screen with my steps and that is all.

Go to your phone and change the clock face after you do a hard reset.

Mine screen quit too. I was going to take it back but found these messages and saw the instructions on how to reset it. Now I’m happy, I really like this Fitbit!

It’s the ONLY one that works for me (changing the clock face).

Hi I thought I would have to return my fitbit charge 3 in the morning but after my screen. Had stopped but followed your advise and crisis averted no need to trek into town tomorrow morning. Thank you.

I have the same thing happening, recieved one for Christmas, now the display does not work. FitBit should be replacing these for us. Last fit bit I had did the same thing just after the 1 year warranty was up, Fitbit would not replace it because it was over warranty. Well this one is 2 months old and it has already died. They do not last I am so disappointed.

I am having the exact same issue. I have had mine a little over a month.

I finally got my display working again. I went into the clock face settings in the FitBit app on my phone (Click on the sync button at the top left, then go into Clock Faces). Choose any different clock and give it a minute to sync. I chose a different clock face, and it worked! I changed the clock face back to my preferred, and it still works.

When all else fails, I turn my phone off for a minute and start again. That often will do the trick for a lot of things. Good luck!

I've just done that and have lost everything. I had the time until then but now nothing. I've only had it 5/6 weeks!!!
Just got it to work. 🙂

I completed the instructions, now all I have is a white line across the middle of the display.

I agree with Monabert. I have no idea what is going on with your Fitbit but I’d consider contacting Fitbit and possibly returning it for a refund.
