Do magnetic bands interfere with Fitbit?

So I am trying to upgrade the look of a fitbit to blend in with my wardrobe more but the replacement bands have magnets and I am wondering if they will interfere with the fitbit technology?? Has anyone heard of anything or had good/bad experiences with magnets near their fitbit?

The band you linked to has a magnetic clasp that is on the opposite side of the arm. 

Considering that today you can not get away from magnetic fields, I don't see how this is a problem. 

Many like this band, I could not keep it on my arm.

I just put my new magnetic band today and it sent the Fitbit into a tizzy.  It didn't count the steps and I kept checking it.  Today was the Sam's Club, Walmart, grocery store, mall day and I wondered how many steps after Sam's....only recorded 37.  NOT right, so I kept checking.  It actually went backwards 237 steps at one point.  I took the band off and now, at home, it's working again.  I hope I didn't damage the Fitbit.

While on Sam's Club, Walmart, and grocery shopping, was your Fitbit hand holding on to the shopping cart? This could cause steps to not be counted. 

As for steps going backwards, was this during a sync? Some users have experienced this. One day with every sync I lost steps with every sync and ended up the day with 400.

There's a good reason for "digging up a dead thread" @Rich_Laue as this thread is one of the first results that shows up when you Google the question. A question which is still unanswered here and still relevant, since I just purchased two of these wristbands from Amazon and am also questioning whether the (very strong) magnet in them will interfere with the Fitbit's functioning.

I got a refund for the bands with no questions asked. Sam’s Club took the fitbit back and refunded the full price. The tech person at Sam’s said maybe it wasn’t the magnetic band but the fact that I didn’t have a smart phone syncing with the fitbit at all times. I don’t have a smart phone. The fitbit was working fine before the magnetic band. A mystery to me. NOTE: I went back to a pedometer. The pedometer’s battery needed replaced and I took it to Dakota Watch Co to have a new battery installed. The clerk had no idea what a pedometer is and what it does. I finally told her it was an antique fitbit. The was satisfied with that and wrote “battery for manual fitbit”.

One of the reasons their might not be an answer @SKirby70 is because by posting here your asking your fellow Fitbit ownewrs for their opinion. How many Fitbit users understand magnetism?

It should not affect the motion sensers, mabe it will affect the compass, if your model has one. I never saw a problem with my band and the magnetic clasp. OK there was one problem, the tracker would not stay on my arm. The band kept seperating from the Fitbit.

I bought the same band and wonder the same thing?  Did you get an answer? It looks difficult to change the band the pins are free on this band...

@jewlsiyq the pins being that free and the pin that sticks out to far is the reason the band did not stay connected.

I just received the magnetic bands for my new fitbit and started wondering if there could be any interference.  So far- no problem for me and I really love the bands!  The original plastic one irritated my skin and the buckle could be difficult to get on and off. I purchased a gold and silver- I love the way they dress it up!

I have been wearing a mesh metallic band with magnet closure for months now with no problem, when my fitbit goes "crazy" I hold right and left lower buttons until reset... Not caused by the band??? I have to dress up often for work and the gold mesh band better fits the look...

@jewlsiyq without knowing your definition of "going crazy" I would not know.

In theory the magnet may affect a compass, but I don't see any documentation saying Fitbit has a compass. 

Not knowing much about gravity, the quickview might be affected, but holding a rare earth magnet up to a tracker does not seem to affect guickview.
