Do magnetic bands interfere with Fitbit?

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

So I am trying to upgrade the look of a fitbit to blend in with my wardrobe more but the replacement bands have magnets and I am wondering if they will interfere with the fitbit technology?? Has anyone heard of anything or had good/bad experiences with magnets near their fitbit?

I included a link to the fitbit band I'm looking at if that helps! Thanks to anyone who has helpful info!

Yesterday I took my magnet bracelet watch to wash dishes and then put it on I didn’t work at all the light from the back didn’t turn on at all, the magnet messed it up.

I have problem believing the magnet broke the tracker, I know to many people, including me, that have these bands with no problems.

Have you tried a restart of the tracker?

Checked to see if the heart is still turned on?

I've been having problems recently with my Ionic. I use a magnetic wrist band and had a couple of incidents with sudden battery draining as well as failure to count my steps. I've got small wrists and it is now winter, and both my wrists are a bit smaller. Could the magnet being closer to the body of the watch be causing interference?

Changed band to easier magnet band but pulse is no longer working!! So bummed! Sleep therefore also not working since the two interact.

Tried to reset.   =Nada change.

Tried to turn off and back on. = Nada

To take it off for awhile seems odd but if it works, I will try it.

Records steps and stairs more than it should I believe. ...

Time and date are okay.

Any others???

Okay!

I see what you mean. I can see the pins!! Darn it  Anything I can do?

Should I go back to the original heavy band?

( I’d need to buy another.)

What are your thoughts?

Thank you for your time!!

Things I've tried: Restart Ionic, clean back, including charging pins.

So far it has been behaving well since my last post. I will keep an eye on it and update if necessary. I don't think the magnet is the problem.

I replaced my charge 2 with a charge 3 in mid Nov. Absolutely love it, so much better than my old one. I got the special edition with the woven purple band which I love, but it gets dirty very easily and really shows. It does wash very nicely with a little dish soap and a tooth brush, but I'm afraid it won't last long. So I went to Amazon & bought the CAVN metal Milanese Loop Stainless Steel Magnetic band. It looks really sharp, dresses it up. Wore it all day and when I woke up the next day the display didn't work. Fitbit was still working, showed my sleep hours just fine on the app, vibrated when I received a text, but no display on Fitbit. I took off the magnetic band and just let it sit for awhile and no change. I put the black band  on & wore it for 24 hours with no display. Then this morning got up and display is back and working fine. It had to be the magnetic band, afraid to put it back on. Any one experiencing anything similar to this?

Mine is not working at full capacity since I switched to black magnetic
band.
Afraid to change it because at least I am getting steps.
No heart rate or detailed sleep info like before.

Mine seem to be fully functioning today. I'm going to return my magnet band
and make a comment on Amazon about the danger. I had read all the reviews
before I purchased it, and there were no negative reviews, or warnings. Not
a good thing!

My Brice, sister, sister in law, aunt, her son and grandson, several coworkers and I all have these Mellinese bands with no issues.

As for as I can tell they have few negative reviews because they work great, give the Fitbit a professional look and hold up better than fitbits bands.

My one month old Versa worked perfectly with the factory plastic band. Yesterday I received a metal magnetic blue band. I put it on. Immediately, the Versa now no longer turns on with a flip of the wrist as before. Now in order to get it to turn on, I must double tap the screen. All other functions are the same. I will switch back to the OEM band and see if it that function returns. I also did a reset and that made no difference.

The charge 2 only has a restart procedure, this could reset non working hardware or software, however it should not reset any settings. Did you check to make sure quickview is turned on? If it is I would turn it off then back on. A sync will then be needed.

The XYZ motion sensor is what handles this function and die not look Kat any magnetic field.

I changed quick view to "Auto" works fine now. I must have accidently set it to manual while messing with the band change. Thanks for the reply.

we're not crazy, somehow the magnetic bands mess with fitbit's wee brain. I
haven't had any problems since I switched back to the OEM bands. It's too
bad, I really liked the look of the magnetic. lol!
