I bought the fitbit thinking it just works independently of my Iphone. I also bought it to be able to listen to music on my runs. I thought i would be able to download a Spotify playlist which i cant which has annoyed me and  now I dont know if I can go fpor a run or cycle without my phone near me? does my phone have to be near me to collect data, If so what the point of having a fitbit?

You do not need your phone nearby to collect data.  The tracker will store about a week's worth of data without a sync.  However, not having built-in GPS, it cannot use connected-GPS to your phone if your phone is not with you.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

@laurenlpeters mayo ask which tracker you bought? The Charge HR hasn't been made in 4 years.
