Exercise tracking not showing heart rate

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

I've recently upgraded from the charge hr to the charge 2. However I can't get it to track my exercise properly. Its not showing my heart rates for the exercise session now like it did with my charge hr. Is this the model or is there a nack to it?

Unfortunately I think the update will be going Premium. This has not happened by accident. Look at their advertising.

So if it does, bye bye Fitbit for me. Final nail in the coffin.

Just realised mine has not been showing heart rate in exercise too. Surely this is an easy fix? I've been considering moving on from FitBit and this may help make my decision.

On August 21st Fitbit entered into a deal with Singapore to provide its citizens with a free Inspire when commenting to a year of the Premium service at $10 a month. This is a huge deal, with one million of the population of 5.8 million expected to participate in this program.
I believe that everything that has happen in the last 4 or 5 weeks, intentioned or unintentional, directly or indirectly, and what has been done or not done by Fitbit is a result of putting together a proposal for Singapore. I believe that Fitbit directed all its resources, money, energy or whatever to produce this winning proposal. I also believe Fitbit will continue this focus to ensure that the rollout of this program, sometime in October is successful.
However, that leaves us, the loyal users here in the US and probably in other country’s as just collateral damage for Fitbits greater good. I believe all the update activity in July and August supports this theory. In addition, earlier this week they made a change to the home screen, although it doesn’t look much different, but with the new discovery icon it is really geared for the new user. Anybody thinking the citizens of Singapore? I will admit that I like the new feature showing the battery level as a percentage instead of a colored bar.
For those of us who choose to stay with Fitbit all we can do now is hope that something good will come out of this and we won’t have to buy the new premium service to find out what it is.

This, along with the lack of response from Fitbit Support, only adds to my concerns the heart rate removal from exercise sessions was intentional and not a bug.  If a premium subscription is rolled out then the Blaze I am wearing will be my last Fitbit purchase.

HR2 user here, also HR tracking disappeared from  my run tracking this summer. What the hell, this is intentional?? I have the new app and it's still missing. What's the point of a fitness tracker that doesnt track??? Its called Charge HR... ffs! What did I pay for then???

This entire problem really suck balls. The Fitbit people should be ashamed of themselves. I’m sure the ombudsman would have something to say if they have done this on purpose to make a new model look more attractive.

If they don’t fix this problem, it will be the end of Fitbit.

Likewise - this stinks big time.

If this feature isn't reinstated I will NEVER purchase again from Fitbit.

Just went walking using GPS tracking, and no heart rate log in the app. So I added a manual entry for the same period, and the heart rate is there. This makes it just putting the readout back in the GPS mode, because it is definitely getting tracked.

I’m sure some of this has been discussed in other posts of this thread but maybe not all of it, hopefully this be of benefit for some people.
There are three methods to get HR data and still have the GPS data. In each method you still use the Track function in the Fitbit app to get real time data: time, distance and pace as well as the voice cues.
In this first method you use the Track function to start and stop your exercise, when you are done you have an exercise with just GPS data, from this you have time, distance and start time if go to the Log function in the app and put these 3 pieces of data in the appropriate places and save, you will get another exercise that has just heart rate data. For me this is the least preferred.
Method #2: Setup your Fitbit for auto recognize for your exercise, once again use the Track function to start and stop your exercise. When you are done you will have two exercises, one with HR data and one with GPS data. As stated in the first method you still have your real time data and voice cues
Method #3: After trying all three methods, this is the one I’ve been using.
In the app, go to Exercise Shortcuts and add the exercise or exercises that you want to track. If you turn on Connected GPS you will get GPS data from your Fitbit (I’m pretty sure you have to turn off auto recognize for this to work). Now you should be ready. On your Fitbit select your exercise and hold the button in until it vibrates to start the exercise and do the same to end the exercise. I also use the Track function for the real time data and voice cues. If you don’t want to use the Track function you will still get GPS data from the Fitbit as well as the HR data.
Only thing I don’t like about this method is that you have start and stop your exercise from both your Fitbit and phone at the same time. Although these methods are only workarounds they should provide everyone with the data they want and need.
Now we can only hope that FITBIT WILL DO THE RIGHT THING AND FIX THE PROBLEM!!!

I just looked at the Fitbit website and found that the Premium service is now available, I signed up for the free 7 day trial. This morning I went on my ride using our old method of tracking the exercise, when I was done the HR data was missing, so the premium service DID NOT FIX THE PROBLEM.

I spent some time on the website trying to find some documentation that described this feature or supported it in some way, nothing, it’s like it doesn’t exist.
You can find information on the other features we have been using as workarounds, SmartTrack, connected GPS and using your device to start and stop your exercise while using Track on your phone.

Fitbit describes a feature called MobileRun: Through GPS, MobileRun allows you to track and elevate training/workouts with real-time updates and key stats from individual runs, walks and hikes, including exact route, pace per mile (splits), distance and time.
I think we should come up with a name for the Fitbit feature that is no longer working.

A good name for our feature would be MobileRun Plus HR Data.
Maybe the reason or one of the reasons that this isn’t getting fixed is that in the eyes of Fitbit this feature doesn’t exist.

I saw a message on my app asking to try Premium which raised my concerns the heart rate during a "tracked" exercise session would require a monthly subscription to get heart rate during said session.

I appreciate you providing this feedback which, essentially, confirms this is a bug and not a premium feature, although this makes the matter all the more confusing.

Just got finished with a lengthy chat with Fitbit customer service.  They indicated this is, indeed, a bug and known issue they are working and hope to address with the next update.  Being in IT, this sounds like the recent app redesign fubared the heart rate monitoring which was not caught in QA/test cycles and non-trivial to fix.  I advised they post an update on this forum and I am supposed to get email updates when they have an ETA.  If I do, I will post here.

Mel6502 - you obviously have better negotiating skills than me!!!  I spoke to customers services when this first occured without any success.

WELL DONE at least we know it is a bug, just need to rely on fitbit getting round to fixing it.

Thanks.  I did nothing special really, just gave them all the context and breadcrumbs to make sure we were talking about the same area of the app.

Here is the email I got yesterday from Fitbit Support after our chat (which is encouraging):

Hi,

It's a pleasure chatting with you about your heart rate graph that is not showing on your tracked exercises.

Thanks for letting us know about this issue. We’re aware of it and are working to identify a resolution as quickly as possible.

We're sorry for any trouble. We appreciate your patience and look forward to getting you back on track.

Please let us know if there's anything we can do to assist you in the meantime.

Sincerely,

Ivan and the Fitbit Team

Same issue here. I think it started with the last iOS app update. Please fix it.
