I've recently upgraded from the charge hr to the charge 2. However I can't get it to track my exercise properly. Its not showing my heart rates for the exercise session now like it did with my charge hr. Is this the model or is there a nack to it?

Hey Fitbit, how is this still not fixed!! It's been 9 months!! I've had my current tracker (Versa SE) for about 16 months and have been missing a critical feature for more than half of the time I've owned it!!
Also, unrelated to this threat, but annoyed with the fact that I bought the SE for the fitbit pay feature (which more banks were suppose to be added for) and 16 months later my bank is still not supported. It's a large nationwide bank but yet there are tons of small local banks on the list. Add Discover Bank please!

Ensure that the Charge 2 is connected through Bluetooth and the Fitbit app has location always on in iPhone location settings. Starting the exercise through the charge itself will track heart rate and gps through the phone. You just unfortunately have to take your phone with you when exercising. If recording a walk I start the exercise as a run on the charge 2 and when completed I change it to walk on the Fitbit app afterwards. Hope this helps

Hi thomaspotter95
Suggest reading the previous 8 or so pages of this thread...
The way it is supposed to work is log heart rate with the gps location data in the app, but since July 2019, it has not done so. If you're new to Fitbit since that date, you won't know any different. There have been work arounds posted in this thread (such as yours - however you have always needed to take the phone for GPS data!), however Fitbit broke the app and with Google buying Fitbit for the health data (not the product), forget it ever working like it did.
Have not worn or used my Charge HR 2 since the 4th replacement band broke 2 months ago (less than 6 months on the band this time).
Not missing it at all...
Not buying ever again or recommending Fitbit to anyone.
Stay active and healthy.

It appears that Fitbit has no interest in correcting the flaw in their software but would prefer us to upgrade to a newer device!!
thinking seriously of an iWatch now!!

+1
Same for me. Tracks the heart rate throughout the day, and in automatically detected exercises, but not manually tracked exercise.
Please fix.

thanks, that works, but what a pain. I feel like next watch won't be a Fitbit

My fitbit usually tracks my heart rate, but sometimes it shows ---. Then it will be 111,then 5 seconds later 87.

Same for me. SOOOOO FRUSTRATING! I spent all this money on a watch that doesn't so what it advertised.

I'm having this exact issue and I just got my fibit TODAY. Is there a fix for this? If not I'll be returning it for sure....

This issue has been on going, since July for me... and even before that for others.... so....
There are diff solutions - mine is - to start the exercise from the Fit Bit, (scroll to run, treadmill or elliptical, then press the button to start when you exercise) it

Hi, also... I bought my Charge 2 in May 2018 with a Alta HR for my wife. Her Alta died 2 months ago, less than 2 years.
I am exploring another tracker for my wife after the Covid 19 lock down in my country, is over.
just fyi...

Thanks for the tip. It's surprising that Fitbit hasn't addressed this - clearly it's an issue for a lot of people.

I have what I think is a different HR monitoring problem. My Charge 2 has only one LED lit and it doesn't flicker. I get no BPM data but it records a resting HR of 60 every day. I just ended a chat with a rep who says he'll send my problem to a "specialized" department which will be responding via email. I expect to get a useless response. In the meantime I will revive an old phone that I can dedicate to FitBit only. It will have wifi and cell data disabled so that I can get the same minimal info from the Charge 2 via Bluetooth without FitBit/Google collecting any. Then comes the search for a new non-fitbit device.

I had the same issue with my charge 2, it took a couple of calls with them walking through the reset and sending them a video, but they agreed to replace or refund the charge 2.

After the 4th time I was directed to reset the device, I suggested that the support team might benefit if Fitbit developed a Brainwave monitor function. I'm done with FitBit;buying a Garmin Vivosmart.

I made a last ditch attempt to work with Fitbit support re: HR monitor failure. Finally got a straight answer. My warranty was expired, Fitbit has no repair center so I need a new Fitbit. Then the support person put me on hold while he sought to obtain a 25% discount for me. He said I would get an email with the discount 2 days ago; I have received no email.
In the meantime I've received the Vivosmart 4 from Garmin with PulseOx capability on top of everything the Fitbit Charge 2 had.
Goodbye Fitbit.

No such luck for me AcerJacks. I was told my warranty was expired and they have no repair center so I should buy another. I did buy another but it was a Garmin.
