Experience with the Fitbit Charge 3

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Based on the various topics on this forum, it seems like everyone is having problems with the Charge3. I understand it's a new tracker and that there will be minor glitches, but I have total confidence that Fitbit will work them out. I've had virtually no issues with mine since I bought it three weeks ago <knock on wood>.  Syncs perfectly, tracks my steps, tracks my sleep, tracks my exercise, etc., etc.  Sure I wish the font was a little bigger, but that's more my problem due to my age. A decent pair of reading glasses takes care of that for me. I sure would like to see more positive posts on this forum.

Bumping up this older thread 🙂 Are you still enjoying the Charge 3? What is your battery life like?

Best Answer

I've gotten use to the interface. I'm still not thrilled with it, but I've gotten use to it. The battery life is still fantastic. With my Charge 2HR I would charge twice a week. With the Charge 3 I only need to charge once a week, and even after a week it's usually around 27-30% of battery and I can still get a couple more days out of it if I forget.

@Machabit what part of the interface is an adjustment if you wouldn't mind sharing? I'm coming from a flex... TY 😊

To me it was much easier to start tracking an exercise from the charge 2 than it is the charge 3. It seems there are more steps to do start tracking on the 3 than on the 2. If you weren’t used to the 2 interface and the 3 is new to you then you’ll be fine.

I am just curious if you have had any problems with your Fitbit Charge 3 now that it had been a couple of years. Thanks

I agree with you. I did my research on the charge 3 and then purchased it. I have had to hard restart it a few times to having it shut off randomly or not responding, to working perfectly fine for months to only have it do it again. I have now NOT been able to use it since July 2020 because the screen is black. I can feel it turn on then will shut back off within minutes from just coming off of the charger all night. I thought that maybe it was just a fluke with a few but the more I am diving into the comments the only ones that are saying that they like theirs have only had them for a few weeks. I purchased mine in December 2019 and heck yes I would rave about for about six months until the random thing began happening then in April 2020 my screen started not responding and remaining black until I put it on the charger. In May 2020 I started to see vertical lines started with one and slowly increased to more with which I posted about in June 2020. I never had a responds from Fitbit in regards to it just others agreeing with me that it is still going on and nothing seems to be happening to resolve there issues. I now have a $200 paperweight that sits there doing nothing because I can't even get it to stay on to even just record my sleep, with which I purchased it for. So maybe this thread should be used to find those that actually still have a great opinion about the watch that has had theirs for at least 15 months and is still happy.

I previously had a charge 2 which lasted 3 years, and was still working fine when the screen "crazed" earlier this year - not unusable, but annoying. Having loved the C2, the 3 seemed like a logical progression - I compared features to see if the 4 was worth the extra money and decided definitely not - an extra £50 essentially just for GPS that will drain the battery in 5 hours? No, I think not. Charge 3 purchased in May.

The first one had problems from the start - missing steps - and a LOT of steps at that. A reluctance to charge. Often a complete refusal to restart via the usual means. I tried several times to seek help here - and got totally ignored - something that seems to happen a fair bit, strangely enough! Eventually rang the UK customer support line and got sent a replacement device in September. The new one is still not perfect - again it is hit and miss with step counting although better than the first one. It often fails to charge on the first attempt at connecting to the charger in spite of the fact that it confirms that it should be charging. However, nothing too significant and I was going to live with it until the most recent app update...

The current version of the iOs App has left the activity tracking via the app unusable. I set it to track a walk  - it records for a variable amount of time before cutting out and freezing the app. a bit of investigation on here showed that FitBit have known about this issue since at least March but haven't fixed it. I've asked for advice on here and again, have been ignored so far. (Out of interest - the thread I started also asked for a commitment from FitBit relating to the dimmed/black/white line screen problem as that is clearly a significant issue for an awful lot of people).

We're meant to be trying to get away from being a "throwaway society" due to environmental concerns - in the UK at least - however in spite of a sizeable UK market FitBit seem reluctant to get on board with this - seemingly considering that a year or two is a good lifespan for their products. Can you imagine buying any other form of watch and accepting that it would need replacing so often? I can't!

In summary - I liked the Charge 2 a lot. I wanted to like the Charge 3 as much, but so far it has let me down from day 1, and is unfit for purpose due to the app issue. An "activity tracker" that doesn't track activity....that just about says it all.  (And I note also that so far none of those who posted praise early on have returned to say that 2 years on their devices are still going strong with no issues...)

My charge 3 stopped exactly after warranty period and they offered me 35% on new fitbit which will most likely stop working after next warranty. Bad quality products..last max 2yrs.
