Greetings,
my wife wants a different Fitbit and I am taking her brand new Charge 2. How do I reset to factory settings so that I can use it?
Thanks\

No, other devices show you a collection of information that they claim is stored on the device. Do you have any assurances that they're not really storing more information than that?
If you are really this anxious about what information may be stored on the tracker, what I would suggest is this:
Personally, I think this is excessive (and I'm more paranoid than the average person), but if this helps you sleep better at night, so much the better.
I hope this helps.

@Pink_Lily we know that there is storage, your user manual explains this.
7 days of detail data, and another 23 days of daily totals. After 7 days any GPS recorded runs will be deleted.
Once the tracker syncs this data is removed from the tracker.
There are also a few read only settings that are used to calculate calories and distance.
As for any information that points to a specific user or a users Fitbit account? Not directly, you will need to read the Bluetooth MAC's address then break into the Fitbit server, get ahold of a specific file with the proper lookup table.
So yes if someone gets ahold of a Fitbit and managed to sync it through a pc or Mac, it won't sync through anything else, even then it will only sync it's day to your account, not the finders. They will not have any access to data other than what they can read on the device's screen for the day.
Yes they can set the tracker up, as a new device onto their own account, at this time everything is reset on the tracker to the new accounts settings, and the tracker will be removed from your account.
My neighbor had a Fitbit stolen, she knows who stole it, but it is still connected to her own account. The thirds mother says that the thief is still wearing it. It has been almost a year since it was stolen.

I know this thread is old, but no, we DO want to set it back to the way it came from the factory/out of the box. Restarting it doesn't fix anything, because the steps and other stats do not set back to zero. That's what people are saying by "factory reset".......

What is the purpose of setting it back to zero, your not going to reset your steps on the Fitbit server.

@Southernmom84 the Charge 2 only has a software restart. Their isnt a way to do a hard restart or a hard reset. Their also is no factory reset procedure.
What is up?

I purchased a fitbit Charge 2 for my husband. He said it felt too warm and uncomfortable, so I said I would take it. I deleted his fitbit app. I deleted my fitbit from my app. But, I cannot get the fitbit to sync to my phone! I am really frustrated. About ready to take the Charge back and go back to my flex 2!
I know I messed something up with changing accounts, etc. I think if I can reset the Charge 2, I can start from scratch and get everything going again.
Help please

Hello,
I did your “reset” and it still has my sister’s info. What is the way to factory reset. NOT restart the Charge 2.

I'm not sure what is meant by still has you info @Maita, with this being your firdtfpost we are unaware of the problem your having.
Did you setup your own Fitbit account using an your email, then attached the tracker to your newly setup account? What type of info from your sister transferred over.
If your sister did one last sync there should only have been a few steps at the most that might have been added to your account.
As for any info, info never gets onto the tracker.

okay if that does not work you have to UNBIND it then restart both devices simultaneously and then bind to either same device or new device and the should start syncing well BUT you have to keep it active or else it will stop syncing and you will have to repeat the process.

oh and by the way you have to bind the band to erase the other person's info

@Blaze5222 I'm not sure what it is that your tried that did not work, what type of phone, or what type of problem you are having.
