Firmware update silent alarm issue

My Charge 3 went through a firmware update today (v20001.88.11) and now there isn’t an option to set a silent alarm. During the update it said that they would be deleted and I’d have to reset them but that option isn’t anywhere that I can find it now.

This ‘new update’ was almost as brain dead as “New Coke”.

If there’s a way to regress to the previous version I’m not aware of it. Like thousands, I wish there was a way. I’d go back in a NY minute. Chuck

Then go forward and put the timer code back in the app. You still have the
software so that only needs to be regression tested! Onward Chuck!

Well, per Fitbit this wonderful change will no be addressed any time soon.   😩

I'm new to this. Is Fitbit responding to the complaint or are they just ignoring us?

Is this new behavior for them or have they always been this insensitive to complaints?

I’m a longtime Fitbit user and I’ve never known any issue to cause this much uproar. At the moment they seem to be just blowing us off but I think the tide will turn. I’m a senior citizen and the silent alarms and the ease of use was the best selling point of the Fitbit .
I will swap this Fitbit for something else soon if it’s not fixed.

Well said @AFChuc ! I feel like we are all being very ignored. I posted on Friday asking for a direct answer as to why their strategy was to reduce accessibility for all. I am yet to receive any response.

I've been told it is not possible for us as customers to roll back the update. However, it should be very easy for Fitbit to roll it back, removing the ability to set alarms on the watch and then integrate the Charge 3 functionality with the app if that is their strategy. Best practice is for all changes to have a roll back already in place in case of issues. My opinion is that Fitbit are in a position where they have issues. The roll back just needs scheduling.

@Bobbyg47 I feel ignored too - my posts are not getting a response either

@MBodick I'm pleased that your Win10 app working however, it still won't work for me even after trying to follow your advice. Thank you for trying to help me. It is more that Fitbit have done in the last week. 😞

@appletj I could agree with you more! This is the worst customer service I have ever received. The update gave no indication of what functionality was being removed and there is no customer method to roll back.

Thanks for helping me locate the alarm. I now can't get back to my clock, my fitbit seems to be stuck on the alarm setting. Do you have any advice?

Best Answer

How did you get it back? My fitbit is stuck on the alarm setting.

I think I just kept swiping left until it returned to my steps.

Go into Windows 10 Settings and Devices

Unpair you Fibit device and then pair it again.  Just make sure you turn off Bluetooth on your phone.  Once it's paired to the PC try syncing it. Then I turned Bluetooth on my phone. It was fine.

Press the button on the side of the device.

I updated as well and the alarms are available to setup as an app on the band itself.  I think it was a horrible decision on the part of Fitbit.  Setting the alarms is difficult and cumbersome on the band.  It was so much easier to set them and edit them from the list on the phone app.  This was a bad change and I hope Fitbit will reverse it and return the alarm interface to the phone app.  Please!

From the home face swipe left three times and you get the alarm app.  Tap it and you will get an option to set alarm.  It is not user friendly anymore.  Much more difficult to set and edit alarms.  They need to go back to the phone interface.

Update:

I was able to get an alarm set and have it go off on my third try. I used to have a list of several alarms myself. This new interface is difficult and cumbersome. They need to go back to the phone app interface.

I agree, this is awful! Fitbit make this right, put the alarms back on the phone app! Please have all of your Fitbit community friends write and complain. Let them know this was a horrible change.

I totally agree. Fitbit has total disregard for the user community. I think this needs to be changed. I see no reason why in cannot be in both places.
