Fit bit app reset and I lost all my data

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Hi -

I went into my fitbit app on my iPhone this morning, and it asked me to log in.  When I did - all of my data and connections and challenges were lost.  It had me syncing with an old device.  I deleted the old device and hooked up my charge 2, but now I've lost all of my previous data.  Is there anything I can do to get it back?  I was participating in a challenge group and tracking my exercise.  I've been using this fit bit for 9 months and all of that data is now gone.  Can someone help me?

What do you see on fitbit.com

Now log out of the app and log in with your email address, the address that is listed at https://www.fitbit.com/user/profile/edit

@tamwallis @Clouisa1 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here! Did you check the email address used like @Rich_Laue suggested? All your data that has been synced is stored on the Fitbit Servers not on your phone so you can't lose it. A common mistake is using a different email address when logging in again or having a typo (either when you first setup your tracker or and the time you log back in) so please check if this isn't the case.

Let me know how it goes!

I've lost all my data as well, I noticed I entered the wrong email and didn't verify it when I originally set it up  and now I  could not edit the email, so I reset it again. Is there a way to retrieve the old data?

Yes simply login with the correct email address. Once your logged in on the web you may correct the email. Provided that it is not currently connected to a second account. If it is you will need to change this first.

Lina your now logged into an account created last month

Gee, thanks for not sharing how you resolved this issue.

From the app’s main screen, the dashboard, click on the current number of steps. Then you will see all steps from the beginning of time.

I also spoke to a tech via the chat. He said I was out of luck. Enter my data manually. How am I supposed to enter the data manually when I count on the device to track that information for me manually?

Please share how the tech had you recover your data. It would be helpful to me and it appears to several other people with the same issue. Thanks in advance.

Sorry, I meant have the device track the data automatically, not manually. Apologies.

@miamiDACA please go to your dashboard then tell me what you see. You can also go to your activities and choose year.

Hey @paulm888 that is what the edit function is for.
