Fitbit Charge 2 band broke, can it be repaired?

Hi.  My Fitbit Charge 2 band broke.  It separated around the push button clasp and it keeps coming loose.

There is a pinned post at the top of the forum.  It says "visit here", but that link takes you to a place that says that there are no warranties available.  There is another link that says fitbit store, but there is no such band for the Charge 2 at that store.  Finally, there doesn't seem to be a follow up option to that thread.  All the reply buttons are greyed out.

It seems that the band is made of silicone, since  glues will not stick to it.  Is there any way to fix this? Thanks!

Hello @ericcsforge and welcome to the Help forum.  The Charge 2 was discontinued when the Charge 3 was released.  There are no Fitbit brand straps available from Fitbit.  You should look on Amazon or Ebay for a third party band.  I don't believe that they can be repaired.

Hi Laurie.  Thank you for the information.  Are there any recommended brands?  I see so many and feel overwhelmed.  It would be nice to get one that does not cause any unwanted irritation and lasts a long time.  What are the Fitbit bands made out of?  Are they silicone (they feel like it).  It seems that most of the aftermarket replacement bands are made of TPU.

It appears that at least a temporary repair can be made.  Perhaps someone's search will find this.  The reason why the band has goofed up is that it spreads sideways and pops off the metal push button attachment point.  I noticed that if you can constrain the sides of the band and keep them from bowing out, the band will never pop off.  The band can be constrained by wrapping it with thread.  Due to the geometry, the thread wrap will never touch your skin, since there is a gap.  Furthermore, the thread is just poly-cotton, and is not irritating anyway.  Some plastic based glue can keep the thread in place.  Note that it doesn't need to adhere to the band very well.  It just needs to keep the thread wrap from shifting.  It can be confined to the top so there is no chance of irritation.

A photo is attached of the successful repair.  Hmmm.  The photo icon does not seem to be working.
