Fitbit Charge 2 display won't turn on

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Fitbit Charge 2 display not turning on even when button is pressed. I’ve had it for over a year now (this is my third Fitbit and I had 2 Fitbit Charge HR before this one). It did it last week and I plugged it in the charger and reset it and it worked after that but did it again yesterday and when I did charger + reset, it lit up but right away would not turn on again after the display turned itself off and still today nothing I try turns it on. It works fine and picks up all the usual info as far as I can tell. When you hit the button, you can feel the vibration (without seeing the display I must be turning my notifications on and off) and the batterie is full to high level.

Can something be done or is it now defective and time to buy a Fitbit Versa?

Thanks for stopping by. Welcome here @STSJAX! Have you tried charging your tracker for 2 hours or so? Whenever you connect your tracker, do you see something on the screen? Are the green lights on the back still flashing? Do you feel a vibration?

Please try restarting your Fitbit by following these steps:

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display. Your Charge 2 will begin charging.
  4. Press and hold the button on your tracker for four seconds. When you see the Fitbit logo and the tracker vibrates, this means the tracker has restarted.
  5. Unplug your tracker from the charging cable.

Looking forward to your response!

Nothing on the display, otherwise I feel it vibrate and it tracks. I think the display is broken.

Thank you so much MarreFitbit for your quick, helpful response to my FITBIT problem and for creating a Support Case on my behalf. You made my day even if I don't get a fix. At this point would even settle for a confirmation that it is not going to be a small fix and/or something that would help confirm that theory or disprove it. I understand it is tech and all my 3 Fitbit so far have all been well worn and used through out the years. They are not at a cheap price (especially since my next one will be a VERSA or IONIC) but I value them in my fitness journey. I only wish they would all come with a DONGLE like my two FITBIT CHARGE HR did. If I did not have those 2 dongles when I got my CHARGE 2 I would not have been able to sync it and when both dongles totally fell apart and I was still unable to connect and sync without a dongle I landed up buying a FITBIT ZIP on a clearance sale at a nearby store for 39.99$ for the only purpose to get the dongle in the box. (I did not think I would have the time to order one online and still get it on time before losing some data since it took almost a week of trying different things to try to get it to sync without a dongle). My first Fitbit Charge HR, the casing totally fell apart. The second one, the band kept falling of and after crazy gluing the band on some of the glue went on the front casing but still works but does not look “pretty”. My present FITBIT CHARGE 2 has also band falling off problems which I’m hoping my next choice(s) does not.

Thanks again and have yourself a great day and week MarreFitbit.

Interestingly my mums Charge 2 is doing this exact thing except it's completely dead even though it has a charge in it. I've tried plugging it into the mains and into a USB port and tried resetting it but there is no vibration when it's plugged in or a reset is attempted. One thing I did notice is that the time was incorrect on it and it would fail to obtain a heart rate shortly before dying completely.

I have the exact same issue. It's the Fitbit display will not come on, however when I hold the button down it does vibrate and also it is sinking the normal data to the Fitbit app. However no display

Any solutions?   Mine is doing the same thing.

I have attempted the restart also, following instructions provided to others on this topic. Like the others, my fitbit is gathering data, but I have to use the phone app to see the data. The screen is very very faint- cannot really read it (which makes it useless as a watch!). Please help!

Thanks

Lisa

I'm also dealing with the same thing. I reset it already, and nothing still works. The 'ghost' button seems to like going through the different things on the Fitbit but that's all it does. It also turns on and off notifications, tries running, and does the relax option multiple times

I am not sure if mine is the same issue or not. My display disappeared so I charged it. Nothing but some buzzes. So I charged it overnight. Nothing but some buzzes. It has been charging for 2 days now and on my phone it still says my battery is dead and when I hold the button for a long while I will get nothing but a series of buzzes.

Please help.

This is also happening with my charge 2. The display is not working, it’s still vibrates and data is being recorded in the app but I can’t see anything on the screen. I have followed the reset instructions a couple of times, the first time the screen worked, albeit there was nothing legible and the subsequent times, it vibrated but nothing was showing on screen. It’s also no longer holding charge very long.

any suggestions?
