Fitbit Charge 2 loses full charge in minutes

My tfitbit charge 2 will not stay charged for more than a few minutes. I've cleaned the devices contacts, changed the usb port its charging from, turned it off and on etc. It shows as 100%, take it off charge and it is dead within minutes.

TONS and tons of people are having the same issue after updating to the new firmware, myself included. there is no fix and support will merely offer you a discount on a new device (if they get back to you at all). Many folks are talking about trying to take it to the press. really seems like Fitbit bricked an entire line of devices with this update
