Fitbit Charge 3 blank screen and will not reset.

I bought a new Charge 3 today.  During the set up phase, after charging to 100%, it showed an update was available on the app.  Three hours after spinning its wheels on the update the phone screen was blank and will not respond to a reset or show anything on the screen and my phone does not recognise any blue tooth paring. I read on this forum multiple issues with the update procedure  but this seem very odd.  Is there anything to try or do I just take it back to the supplier?

Try a Long Restart first:

 

CHARGE 3 LONG RESTART
Connect the device to the charging cable.
While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration.
The device turns off.
The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Thanks cbwlisha… I tried holding button for over 30 seconds while pugged into to charger and nothing happened, completely lifeless.  I ended up tacking it back to retailer and swapping for Inspire HR.  After seeing so many negative reports on the Charge 3 I didn't want to keep it.
