Fitbit Charge 3 died after swimming

So I've been swimming every day whilst abroad with fitbit charge 3. Today I get out of the pool and an hour or so later it goes crazy buzzing on and off then dies totally. No response with the button on the side.

 

Couldn't charge it at all. Left it a bit and went back and got the smiley face but then that went. Now after leaving plugged in charger it is absolutely red hot. I'm guessing it's dead and there's nothing can be done? 

 

I take it off to shower and was just in a pool with it that's all so not been exposed to anything it shouldn't. 

 

This is a replacement after my last one went too dim. Disappointing
