Fitbit Charge 3 not recording GPS

Hey guys my Charge 3 paired to my iphone X seems not to be working. When I activate bike mode and connects it, it would work for a moment or 2 then when I place it in my frame bag it would disconnect. I tried all the methods available that could solve it. I called the support several times and the answer was there is a update coming to the ios but it has almost been 6 months

Hi, @PinRen , are you connecting it to yiur phone before you leave home and fhen setting off ?  I used to find when doing it that way that I lost connection as my phone switched from wifi mode (at home) to cellular data mode (out and about), so I lost connection invariably.  For me the solution was to turn off wifi (on the phone) before I left home and making sure I still had a connection between the Fitbit and the phone.

I am not sure if this is the issue, or if this would work for you, but might be worth a try.  I do not think there is any known issue generally affecting people that would be fixed with an update.

I hope this helps.  It might be worth a try.  Let us know how it goes.  Welcome to the forums!

I actually pair my watch and my iphone only after leaving my house and switching to mobile data

Well it won’t be that, then.  It still might be worth making sure wifi is turned off, however.  I have read that if your phone passes through a wifi zone the action of finding it and trying to connect can disrupt the connection between the phone and the Fitbit.

You might even consider turning data off altogether - my experience is that while data is required to make the initial connection, it is not required to maintain it.  As far as I know, Fitbit have never confirmed this.  However I used to use Fitbit’s “connected GPS” using a phone without any sim at all.

Other than those suggestions I don’t think I can help any further - except to make sure you don’t accidentally press anything on your phone when putting it away - and obviously making sure you bike bag is not designed to block signals (!) like I think some wallets are...
