Fitbit Charge 3 shows 113,000 steps while charging

I put my Charge 3 on the factory charger last night and when I checked it this morning it shows 113,007 steps. Quite aspirational but not likely. Is it possible to reset my steps for the day? What caused this?

Hello @Cato35. Welcome to the community forums.

I'm sorry for the experience and thank you for the detailed information. At this time, I suggest you to please confirm that MobileTrack isn't enabled. MobileTrack is a feature that records basic stats such as steps using your phone's sensors if you don't have a Fitbit device available. But there was a fan or anything buzzing nearby, or if your phone was vibrating during that time, that might have caused you to receive incorrect steps tracked.

If this is the case, I'd suggest you to remove this feature by following the steps described in this help article and monitor your tracker's behavior to see if this has any relationship.

On a side note, please note that there isn't any way to reset or delete steps but fortunately you can log a non-step-based activity such as driving to override the steps. For this, please follow the steps provided in this link: How do I add, edit, or delete Fitbit data and activities?

Hope this helps.

Thank you for the quick reply. Mobile Track was in fact activated.  I turned that feature off. While charging, the fitbit was in its normal charging place but was hanging off the table where it charges.  I will be careful to keep it in a stable place in the future. I was able to go in and log the steps as driving to identify them properly.

Thanks again, I will follow up in the future if I see this behavior again in the future.
