Fitbit Charge 3 will not long restart or sync

Have looked at similar issues but cannot see someone with my exact problem.

My charge 3 will not perform a long restart (yes I have followed all instructions). I plug it in to charge (it shows as charging) press and hold the button, at around the 8 second mark the smiley face appears, then the clock face appears - it will not perform a long restart no matter how many times I try! Have not been able to sync for 2 weeks and the time/date is off. Fitbit is connected to my phone via bluetooth.

About 2 months ago I started having issues when the fully charged fitbit felt like it just wouldn't stop vibrating and drained the batt in about 2 hrs. I was able to change the clock face and it has worked fine until now.

Have tried the following:
- reboot charge 3 by going to settings, about, reboot device
- Tried a long restart but it will not turn off, I always get the smiley face
- Turn bluetooth off and on, on my mobile
- 'forget this device' on my mobile and reconnect charge 3
- Turn mobile phone off and on
- Log out and in of fitbit app
- Change clock face (has not been able to change clock face)
- Fitbit app and iphone have latest updates
- Plug my charge cord in to various usb ports to see if that helped (it didn't)

Although this is an older device, it gets used maybe twice a week when I am working outdoors. I am about ready to pull my hair out!!

Please help!

Same here! Hoping for help, all other restart and suggestions I have found from the blog did not help either.

@LadyLiquorice @Taa2023 , A warm welcome to the Community! Thank you for your messages and efforts.

Please make sure to have updated the Fitbit app. We just released a new Fitbit app (v.4.04)

Please follow these steps, some you have already done, but the order is important:

  • Restart your Charge 3.
  • Please on the phone, go to Settings>Bluetooth and remove all connections that exist with the tracker. (Forget, ignore or unpair device depending on the phone's operating system version)
  • Turn off Bluetooth and restart your phone. (switch off and on again).
  • When the phone is back on, turn the Bluetooth on again, but DO NOT try to connect to the tracker from there.
  • Go on the app. From here, try setting up the tracker as a new device.
