Welcome to the Fitbit Community, @IrmaC123.

I am sorry to hear your Charge 3 won't show anything on screen. Thank you for providing the additional details. I totally understand how you are feeling and I am here to help. I recommend doing the following:

  1. Restart the device: How do I restart my Fitbit device?
  2. Change a clock face: How do I change the clock face on my Fitbit device?
  3. Make sure your device's firmware is updated: How do I update my Fitbit device?
  4. If the issue persists, perform a long restart:
  • Connect the device to the charging cable.
  • While the device is plugged into the charging cable, press and hold the button down for 15 seconds.
  • The device turns on and shows a battery icon. Two vibrations occur: first a short vibration, then a medium vibration
  • The device turns off.
  • The device turns on and shows a progress bar and short vibrations occur. The progress bar completes. Note: A total of 7 short vibrations occur.
  • Remove the device from the charging cable. The device shuts down.
  • Important: Plug the device into the charging cable again.

Additionally, I recommend checking if your Fitbit app is updated to the latest version as updates come with new features and bug fixes: How do I update the Fitbit app?

Let me know how it goes, I'll be around.

well I tried the clock face switch. My phone says it was successfully changed and the fitbit vibrated but still a black screen. I tried a restart but nothing happened. I also tried firmware update but there is no option so I assume I'm on the latest (maybe that's the issue?). Don't know what to try next. It's very frustrating.

I have the exact same problem, started about three days ago.  Tried restart, changing clock face and long restart.  Nothing works.  Is this a bug in the new firmware?

Have been using this model since lockdown and all ok until a few days ago when I started swimming again (pre-lockdown was using a Flex 2). Afterwards, the display kept flashing on and off and I thought it must be the battery, although had not seen it happen before. Yesterday (4th time) it would not display at all, so I put it on charge overnight, the smiley face appeared, so I knew it was connected properly (another problem - bad design!). Just checked and it’s quite hot and there is no display. The app states it was synced at 02.26hrs (8 hours ago) and that the battery is full.

I had the same problem and called support.  Support was not helpful.  After recommending a long start that did not work, the solution was to offer a 25% discount on a new product.  Naturally the Charge 4 was not part of the offer.  This is my 3rd Charge 3 in less than 2 years and the company will not stand behind its products.  I only bought a new Charge 3 so that I had time to intestate other brands.

Does anyone have recommendations for a tracker product other then Fitbit?

Just went through the same thing with support, hopefully someone shares a better, more reliable product. Very disappointing.

I’ve read people having problems with it after swimming but it’s meant to be able to track swimming, therefore go into water! If they keep going wrong, then they’re not up to the task! Having used mine for only 4 months and all working ok, then to swim with it only 4 times and now it’s not working ok, seems to be a bit of a coincidence 🙁

  1. Press and hold the button for 10 to 12 seconds until you see the Fitbit icon and a version number (e.g. "V30").

This is impossible as the button is not press able, it’s dead!

Cannot change clock face as it cannot find the Fitbit. Says it’s not connected. See pics.

The Fitbit got so hot that I removed it from the charging cable, so something isn’t right!
