Fitbit Charge 4 unresponsive and won't restart

Hi,

My Fitbit Charge 4 is unresponsive to taps. If I press the side button once, it does light up and shows me actual stats, but I can't navigate them. This is why I can't restart through the Settings menu. Pressing the side button for 8 seconds (with and without charger plugged in) does not give any result for half of the time. The other half of the time, the DND/Sleep menu items show up but again, tapping them doesn't work. How to reboot my Fitbit (if that's the likely solution)?

Hello @Melanie50

When you tried restarting your Charge 4 manually did the Fitbit Logo appear while holding down the side button? Sometimes it takes longer then the 8 seconds you stated. Try holding done the button continuously until the Fitbit logo appears. It might take up to 10-12 secs sometimes before the Logo appears. Sometimes, unfortunately you have to try restarting your Fitbit more then once to get the desired results. The rule of thumb that I read here in the forums is try at least 3 times. If that still doesn’t resolve the issue I’d contact Fitbit Customer Service Here: https://myhelp.fitbit.com/s/support?language=en_US

I’m hopefully that retrying a restart several times gets you back up and running. 😃 Please let me know how it goes.

Hi @MegaBit
Thank you for taking the time to help me out! No, the Fitbit logo doesn't
appear. I just tried holding down the button for as long as needed for the
Fitbit logo / the smiley to show up & I tried it multiple times. It never
does (like 50 seconds later, still nothing). The only thing that happens is
that after about 15 seconds, the DND and Sleep items show up (which are
both greyed out/disabled), but as the Fitbit doesn't respond to tapping or
swiping, I can't navigate this menu or change anything.

I'll contact the Fitbit Customer Service as you suggested, thank you again!
🙂 If there's any other idea on how to restart my Fitbit without using the
menu items or the power button, I'm all ears.

Hello again @Melanie50

Gosh I’m so sorry that trying to restart your Fitbit Charge 4 several times didn’t work and your screen is still unresponsive. I was going to suggest restarting your Fitbit Charge 4 while it’s on the charger but I see you have already tried that. It wouldn’t hurt trying it on the charger a few times. Try putting on the charger for about 30 mins before trying it.

If your Charge series tracker is unresponsive: .

  1. Plug the charging cable into the USB port on your computer or any UL-certified USB wall charger.
  2. Clip the other end of the charging cable to the port on the back of the tracker. The pins on the charging cable must lock securely with the port.
  3. Make sure the button on your tracker is aligned with the button opening on the charging cable. You’ll know the connection is secure when the tracker vibrates and you see a battery icon on your tracker’s display.
  4. Press and hold the button to restart your tracker Charge 4—press and hold the button on your tracker for about  8 seconds. Release the button. When you see a smile icon and the tracker vibrates, the tracker restarted.
  5. Disconnect your tracker from the charging cable.

🥺 I’m hoping it will wake up for you. If not Customer service would be next. Please keep me posted
