Fitbit apps fails to show map and statistics sometimes?

So on the Fitbit app on my Samsung phone I can stroll down to Excercise session.  There I see my walking activity in terms of distance logged and a map of the route.  But sometimes all I see when I select this session to look at the map of both routes is a red circle in the middle of the screen showing activity but no map.  I use fitbit to track my walking  I always select walking and wait till the GPS has synced then start to track  And I finish at the end  I can see for today and then for previous days the distance etc... If I select that section I usually see a map But not today for yesterday (haven't done any walking yet).  But yesterday I did 2 shot walks one of about 2 miles and one of 4 miles.  I can only see the distance of the 2 mile can't see the 4 mile route.  And no map.  It has worked and does normally.  I did find my WiFi was turned off on the phone but turned it back on.  Any ideas - this is a bit frustrating.  The forum has been really helpful so far when I don't seem to grasp something or get it to work.  Thanks people.

@grahamm7 @TeamTega , Thank you for your replies and further information.

The good news, that the maps are shown, either after clearing the cache, and/or some time after, means that the information has been saved. So it appears that it's only a loading thing.

I've forwarded your information so that our team can have a closer look at this.

In the meantime, could you try using the Online Dashboard (fitbit.com) as an alternative, to look at your maps until they load.

I'll be more than glad to inform you, should I receive any information about this.

Hope this gets solved soon

Have the same problem. Didn't work, I also re-booted the watch as well.

This is not a consistent thing.  When the maps and all the information for a specific day doesn't appear (when say I have had 2 walks) and I get the buffering circle.  Well say the next day it all comes back.  You are implying that clearing the cache has a part to play?  I did do as you say and yes I have all the information.  But my experience is that one day I won't be able to see both walks and distance and the appropriate maps displayed.  I will then try again say next day and the information will be there.  Have FitBit come across this and do they have any idea why this inconsitency might be there?  But thanks for answering with a very helpful answer.  I hope TeamTega can be helped as well.  But keep up the good work on the Forum.  Much appreciated.

@grahamm7 @TeamTega , Thank you for your replies and further efforts.

@grahamm7 , The cache might affect the display of your maps and data. That's why I asked you to try this first. As these are the first reports about this, our team hasn't have a deeper look yet.

I'd like to try something else before I inform our team, to have a closer look

Please uninstall the Fitbit app. Don't worry about your data, all synchronized information will remain saved on your account.

Restart your phone. (off/on)

Reinstall the app again and log in.

Hope this helps.

I uninstalled the Fitbit App and rebooted phone.  Re-installed FitBit App and logged on to my account.  My 2 walks today ae just showing circling circles and not the maps.  It is possible when I look tomorrow it will show the maps - ie next time??   I have also raised a ticket about the GPX tracking stopping on my longer walk today and showing the incorrect distance against my Garmin Etrex20.  So far as a tracking of my proper walking not too promising.

@grahamm7 Thank you for your reply and further information.

Could you tell me if this occurs while you are on a Wifi or with mobile data also?

See you around.

The problem occurs on both 5g and wi-fi. I did the cache thing and it didn't work.  Did reinstall the app, followed your directions and the map showed up. Would hope I wouldn't have to do this each time it happens.

The temporary loss of map with buffering circle occurs whether I am on WiFi or using Mobile Data.  However if I come back later say next day it will show the data and the map.  Hope that helps

I cleared the cache and restarted the app.  I now see nearly all maps.  Except the maps for Tuesday x2 are still just showing a red circle as if loading.  But Thursday walk is shown.  And those before Tuesday are shown.  I am on WiFi at home (100mbps) and Bluetooth is on.  There is something definitely strange about these maps loading.  Sometimes they do and sometimes they don't.    So I am glad it is being looked at.  I hope this information might help the investigation.  Let me know if you want any more information.

The walk on Tuesday was one of my longer walks.  However the Fitbit Charge 4 didn't log all the walk it stopped logging the track before the end.  It said I had done 6.48 miles.  My Garmin GPS Etrex20 said the whole walk was 5.64 miles.  I have had this before where the Fitbit gives a greater distance then my Garmin GPS.  I do expect small differences but 6.48 incomplete against 5.64 is a large error.  I did post this on the forum but no one replied to it.  Lots looked at it though.  I have a track and a map of that walk and could post them for investigation.

For me clearing the cache did NOT work. Only uninstalling the app did this. I would hope that this isn't the solution every time.

It looks as if they are investigating this problem.  I did find the maps ok on the web site if I need them.
