I'm confused in that case as it seems to me that your old one wasn't working properly. You start to accrue BMR calories the moment the count resets at midnight whether or not you are wearing the fitbit as those calories are calculated from your settings rather than your movement. I don't wear my fitbit overnight either and I see around 400 - 500 by the time I put the fitbit on in the morning.
I can't explain what you've seen. Hopefully someone else will post with an explanation.

Are you asking this because you are seeing several hundred calories on your fitbit when you get up in the morning? If so, it's likely that it resetting at midnight.
As well as tracking calories burned through activity your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing in the morning includes the total BMR calories burned since the count reset at midnight

Hi Steve! I don’t wear my tracker while I sleep 🙂 I had to return my old charge 3 and got a new one as mine old ones battery stopped working, and when I took it off charge in the morning the calories burned would always be at 0

Are you saying that even if you do not sleep in your charge 3 fitbit that it is normal to see 300+ calories on your fitbit? It had not always done this, it started showing these calories in the last week or so.

@Kuiet_storm yes, it is normal to have a few hundred calories burned by the morning even if you do not wear it to bed. I can't explain why it was not tracking them before.
