I have Charge 4 for 8 days. Gps has only worked once, and my phone was with me. I dont want to need my phone to use the GPS. I cant see anything wrong on the settings. What can I do

Mine isn’t working right even with my phone with me. Have had it in dynamic mode, but might try phone only to see if that changes anything. So frustrating! Only had the issue once before until about 1.5 weeks ago and now it’s the norm instead of the exception. Sigh.

Same here TANX, I might return it if its not fixed quick, I've got about 3 weeks left on Amazon's 30 day return policy. 😞

I got a Charge 4 ten days ago and use built-in GPS for biking with no issues. Just prior To my ride I swipe to Exercise then to Bike, then Start then Play (sideways triangle). When I finish my ride I press the back button on side of Fitbit a few times until I can click Finish. After I sync I go to Exercise on the app and within a few seconds my ride populates and I can see my map, heart rate, speed etc.

The GPS on the watch is crap. I had my phone with me for connected GPS and still no improvement. Almost all the roads and paths I walked down the red line cut straight through the roads, through houses. The gps feature totally inaccurate and unusable.

Well just went for a run. After 1.5km it told me that it couldnt find Gps. Before I started i waited for the connection and eventually just started it. This is useless to me.

In my experience, the root of the GPS problem is the "dynamic" setting. If you set GPS to built-in or Phone, GLONASS to on and Low power GPS off it will work. The built-in option will deplete the device battery at about 50% every two hours, the phone option only uses about 3%. Do let the crazy GPS arrow "connect" before touching the play triangle. This is done quickly when using the phone but takes "a few minutes" using built-in.
I've found these settings are reliable and consistent.

Same. Lately even with my phone on me, connected, synced, and with the Fitbit set to use phone GPS it still takes longer to connect than for me to do my warmup, if it connects at all. And without the phone, it might as well just be a watch.

Hi, @Asparagoose welcome to the community, please note this is a very old thread. There are others although the "Charge 4" has been superseded by the "Charge 5" You do not mention the make or model of your phone or its Bluetooth settings both of which will have an impact on connection times.
Cheers
