Fitbit is recording calories even without wearing it

I did not wear my Charge 2 half of the day yesterday but somehow my Calories burned shows almost 6k. I feel like it's not counting my steps correctly either.

I did verify my correct weight, height and age.

Yesteday was my slowest day of the week. No intense workout or any kind of workout at all.

It recorded the calories burned during my inactive hours too.

Fitbit includes BMR (basal metabolic rate) calories that you are always burning just by being alive.  These are credited even when you are not wearing the tracker.

See How does Fitbit estimate how many calories I've burned?

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

I am aware of the BMR and how Fitbit credits this. My concern is during the hours that I'm not wearing it I'm burning 100-200% of what I'm burning while I'm wearing it and at rest.
