I have always used the elliptical and last night I accidentally used the bike workout. However, it really got me to wondering since neither records steps anyway, which one is the best to use for indoor cycling? Thoughts?

Spinning.

If you don't see it as a choice, from phone dashboard click Account icon near top right, then click 'Charge 2'.  Scroll down to 'Exercise Shortcuts' and follow directions to add 'Spinning' to exercise shortcut list.

Before posting, re-read to see if it would make sense to someone else not looking at your Fitbit or phone.

Don't forget to select 'sync' on your phone after altering any settings.

For me, Spinning mode works perfect.

By definition Spinning is a stationary bike, and it is the same as the bike mode without GPS. Of course the bike mode could also be used as long as the connected GPS is turned off.

OMG! THANK YOU! I have been using the Charge 2 for over a year and had NO idea this was an option! I will try it out tonight! Thanks!

I can't find 'spinning' as an option anywhere. Will 'Bike' mode without GPS work the same ?

Yes @Stephaniefois biking without GPS is the same as spinning.

Have you tried @JohnnyRow's solution posted above?

I am using the Spinning app, and have mounted my Versa on my ankle. The Dashboard is now crediting me for Steps, along with the HR measurements. This seems to me to be a more complete answer for my indoor cycling bike.

However many feel this is cheeting since while on a bicycle the rider is not walking. In addition the credited steps have no relation to the amount of calories burnt during this time period, giving a false record of the true movement recorded on the day.

Disclaimer: I'm playing devil's advocate, since this is simply a discussion among Fitbit users, I do not see a problem with mentioning the rebuttle iand smply explaining the opposite point of view and why there is a request to have all steps removed during the recording of a bike ride. There are just as many upset and just as vocal with having steps recorded while on a bike. Some even want steps removed when Fitbit auto detects a boke ride.

but "step counter" is an antiquated idea these days. they don't even call these devices that all that much anymore. they're "activity" trackers. they're tracking "movement" and spinning or using a stationary bike is movement. i mean if you're lifting weights you're not taking steps usually. push-ups don't involve steps. so i think the idea of steps is stupid and they should stop calling it that. call it "activity points" cause that's really what it is.

Hi all,

so when I had a Fitbit tracker I had to manually input, distance and time and the calorie burn was way more than it is now where my versa three has spinning. Tracker input have me between 800 and 1000 calorie burn my versa 3 gives me no more than 500-600 for the same, who’s correct, any comparisons anyone ?
