hi community,
I’ve been using Fitbit tracking for many years, but honestly, the past three years have been a bit frustrating.
The main issue is that the app and the device don’t seem to work well together anymore. For example, when I go for my usual walk (10 km+ routine!) and manually track it in the app, everything looks fine—right up until I finish. Then, out of nowhere, the app changes it to something completely different, like an aerobic exercise instead of a walk. But I didn’t do aerobics—I walked! And this was a manual entry, so the app shouldn’t mess with it.
I reached out to Fitbit support, and here’s what they told me:
> Mobile tracking is used when you don’t have a Fitbit device paired with your account, so you can still track things like walking. > It’s better to unpair mobile tracking and let the tracker handle exercises alone.
It’s frustrating because I’ve been using this exact setup for years without issues, but now it’s acting up with my walks. It feels like Fitbit isn’t as reliable as it used to be. To make matters worse, they’ve removed the feature that allows users to manually change the exercise entry back to what it should be—like walking. This was such a useful option, especially when automatic tracking gets it wrong, and now it feels like they’re limiting users’ control.
Anyway, I wanted to share this since I know you use Fitbit too—just a heads-up in case you run into something similar.
