GPS occasionally miscalculate distance for runs with Charge 2

Have recently got into running and tracking distances with the fitbit app on my iPhone whilst wearing my charge 2.

I do a weekly 5k which i know is a 5k due to consistency and voice cues around the development i live in. I do 2 laps and a half around it. Recently  when ive reached my 1k marker and the voice cue hasn’t notified me i know that it hasn’t been tracking appropriately.  After I finished my 5k I look at whats recorded and instead of the bends, turns and laps all i get is a straight line running down the middle of where i started and where ive turned round. There is a wooded path no more than 50 metres i run through at one point but it doesn’t track any of the open outer space either. I know it can track accurately due to recordings before. Is it just down to bad gps on certain days?  Im trying to beat my pb and its demotivating when I can’t hear the voice cues or track correctly. Wish I could post pictures of what im getting on tracked days and inaccurate tracked days to explain myself better...

@LuisJIPhillips Thanks for joining us! Sorry for the delay in my reply.

Let me help you with your incorrect distance showing for your GPS activities. I suggest you refresh the link between your phone and your tracker by doing the following:

  1. Go to your phone's bluetooth settings and remove all devices listed there.
  2. Restart your phone and restart your device
  3. Check that no battery saving app/feature on your phone is affecting your Fitbit app.
  4. Also, on an Android device, check that your app has the necessary permissions (settings > apps > Fitbit > permissions) and make sure bluetooth and location services (GPS) are on.
  5. Cloudy days and other factors may affect the GPS signal reception. You can find troubleshooting instructions here

Let me know how it goes.
