It's been only a week since my wife and I got the Fitbit Charge 3. Already she has scratches and never hit anything nor did she brush her watch against metal. At most perhaps some light brushes against furniture. Is this really gorilla glass 3 I'm starting to have some doubts.

I highly recommend Skinomi's TechSkin protectors: http://www.skinomi.com/fitbit-charge-3.html. They come in plain (glossy) and matte styles, for those that would like some glare reduction, six to a pack for the low low price of $7.85. There's also a newer style with a notch on either side for the charger, but that's really not a necessity if one applies the charging clip with moderate care. (They also have full body kits if you want to swathe your C3 in all-over protection, or give the chassis a new look--woodgrain, anyone?
)
I have the plain style glossy TechSkin on my C3; took all of five minutes to apply, didn't even take it off my wrist. I've used Skinomi's products on a variety of smartphones, and can testify that they do their job very well. Their products make it simple to add a reassuring layer of protection, Gorilla Glass 3 notwithstanding.
I hope this info helps anyone looking for a reliable C3 screen protector.
Happy Year of the Pig (noink!) to all!

Sorry to hear it scratched for you too @DES1010. They won't replace anything and having a screen protector won't fix the scratch. The point is you shouldn't need a screen protector it's gorilla glass (supposedly). I have my doubts though... When I get bored of the device which will probably be very soon because synching is not working properly I'll make a scratch test on mine and my wife's to compare the difference. I bet my wife's will scratch easily and mine won't. I'm convinced she doesn't have gorilla glass on it.

It is really frustrating! Good luck with your fitbit too! I got a protector for mine— hopefully that works for long term protection!

My charge 3 screen is also scratched, I received my fitbit as a gift on November 23rd 2018. I had been using my fitbit for roughly 3 weeks when I noticed my screen was scratched, I know exactly how this was caused too. I was cleaning my laminate flooring and picked something up from under my sofa with my watch facing down which meant I rubbed my fitbit on the floor. Having gorilla glass I didn't think this would cause the scratches that it has. My old charge 2 screen was loads tougher. I'm very disappointed with the charge 3 now and the display looks awful now its badly scratched 😞.

@Differ12 I feel your pain. Exactly the same scratches on my wife's Charge. Either Gorilla Glass is not what they says it is or some Charge 3 devices don't have it installed at all.... Don't waste your time with support from Fitbit as they fake their interest in your issue and end up offering you to buy another of their devices...

I've always been really pleased with fitbit customer service. Over the years when I've had previous issues they have helped in every way even to the point I've had a fitbit replaced. I normally email them directly though and don't usually bother with these forums because it seems people don't get their issues resolved. I posted about my charge 3 showing that it does get scratched and quite easily too in my experience 😔
I never thought about returning it under the 45 day return policy either purely because I thought I was at fault. As I say my charge 2 has been bashed about in the 2 years that I've used it and the screen is still perfect. I would like a response from fitbit though has to why my gorilla glass/scratch resistant charge 3 has scratched so easily 🤔

@Differ12 Wow no one of the support team ever mentioned there is a 45 day return policy. Pretty disappointing stuff from their side...

@Differ12 When I asked them this question, they said that gorilla glass is 'scratch resistant', not 'scratch proof'. That's all the information they would give me.

Unfortunately all it takes is a single particle of grit or sand between the screen and whatever surface it makes contact with to scratch it. This applies to any glass including Gorilla glass, make contact with something harder and it will scratch. As I said though, it might not actually be the surface (laminate flooring) but the small particles of grit/sand on the surface that actually caused the damage. A more scratch resistant material would be sapphire crystal, but fitbit doesn't offer this as an option and the manufacturers that do charge a premium for it.

I understand that gorilla glass can still be scratched on sandy/gritty and other dirty surfaces. Considering I had just cleaned my floor though I wasn't expecting to scratch it. I've ordered a screen protector now to prevent any more damage fingers crossed 🤞. I will definitely say from my experience that it isn't has tough has a charge 2.

I think the 45 day returns policy is more of a if you change your mind policy. I'm not sure of all the details around the policy. You can return your fitbit in its original perfect condition if you are not 100% happy with your fitbit. Even though someone on this thread stated they had a scratched fitbit and was returning it to amazon. 🤷:female_sign:

I totally agree with @N8teGee - Gorilla glass is NOT scratch or break-proof, it just offers better scratch resistance than regular glass. I have a watch that users sapphire glass (better than gorilla)... don't want to tell you how many times I had to replace it over the years as it does break - and I never really dropped the watch... just regular banging did the trick (paid for glass replacement way over the cost of the watch.... swiss watch - I like it though! lol) Gorilla glass 3 is not even the latest Gorilla version.... thus I'd not expect any kind of perfection - it's always pays to play it safe and buy a screen protector. (As a note, my daughter's phone screen with Gorilla 5 cracked badly when she dropped it).

Has anyone found any repair solutions for this problem? I read online that for fine scratches, toothpaste might be able to buff it out, but have yet to actually test it. None of the scratches on mine are deep, but it's pretty disappointing considering I've done nothing unusual or crazy while wearing it that should have caused it - I'm quite careful!
I'm thinking I should get a screen protector but I was hoping to repair the damage before putting it on, so if anyone has any suggestions I'm all ears!

The gorilla glass is a joke! I noticed a scratch on mine within the first week and I hadn't hit it on anything either or done anything to cause it. I contacted Fitbit through Facebook immediately and they could care less. I've had it for only 4 months now and the glass is now shattered. I contacted Fitbit again and still no help. Not everyone can afford to keep replacing these at $170. I bought this one specifically for the gorilla glass because I thought it would hold up. Not one bit! Very disappointed with this product and their customer service!

Their customer service gets me so upset because they get your hopes up! Mine was escalated as well and even had one conversation where they asked for pics and other details as if they were going to help me. They said they would check other options. Once I went through all the trouble they then said they couldn't help. Their messages always make it sound like they want you to be satisfied and will help you but they really dont.

I've never been more disappointed by a device as I've been with Fitbit. I'm never purchasing nor recommending any of their devices. The software is slow to update, fails to sync many times, is inaccurate and the display glitches and becomes unusable very often. The weekly emails report the days I'm resting as most productive and the ones I'm working out as the worst. I mean what the hell... And don't even get me started about their customer support. They act like they are helping but cannot be bothered. All they do is offer you discounts on other of their products... atrocious and most unprofessional company ever. Never again

Yes! This exact same mini scratches happened with my screen without any memory of bumping into anything. I got mine two months ago and have been extremely careful not to hit it against anything but just found these scratches yesterday. Definitely frustrating and questioning the glass' durability. 😕 Going to invest in a screen protector next time.

My Versa 3 screen is supposedly Gorilla glass and seems extremely easy to scratch. I accidently touched against the edge of a piece of glass with no sharp edges and this is the result
