Welcome on board @Katy65, it's nice to see a new member around! Let me share my personal experience; usually when I've done HIIT I get less heart rate average because I stop every 2 or 5 minutes to change the activity and then the average heart rate is lower. This doesn't mean that the intensity of it is less, but since I'm stopping and not doing the same thing for a longer period the heart rate is changing a lot and at the end that's why I get a lower number.

Remember that the heart rate is measured every five minutes as you can double check on your Dashboard. Because it's an average and not minute by minute data.

You can also try wearing it higher when you're doing a very intense activity and check that your Charge 3 isn't getting loose or getting down on your wrist. You may want to try higher than two fingers as shown on the image.

With high-intensity interval training, P90X, boxing, or other activities where your wrist is moving vigorously and non-rhythmically, the movement may prevent the sensor from finding an accurate heart rate. Similarly, with exercises such as weight lifting or rowing, your wrist muscles may flex in such a way that the band tightens and loosens during exercise. Try relaxing your wrist and staying still briefly (about 10 seconds), after which you should see an accurate heart rate reading. Note that your tracker will still provide accurate calorie burn readings during these types of exercise by analyzing your heart rate trends over the course of the workout.

Hope this helps, let me know if you need further assistance!

That all makes sense but what's the category to set up? Cardio? Weight lifting?

I am looking for the same thing. I can't find a HIIT option on the list of exercises. This is my first Fitbit, so newbie here.

I believe that you can track HIIT with the Interval exercise.

Work out...eat... sleep...repeat!

Hello there,

Total newbie to the Fitbit. Did you ever find a setting for HIIT classes that you feel has best measured your performance?

Thanks

Hi

No I didn't I'm afraid. I just use the weights option to at least track what I'm doing but don't know if the impact/calorie burn etc is entirely accurate.

Hello there, I just use the Bootcamp setting. The "Interval" annoyed me with the mandatory breaks and lack of customization. Bootcamp gets pretty close.

My charge 3 doesn't have interval or bootcamp so I use weights for f45 workouts sometimes I thinks calorie burn is to high though

Please ensure you remove one excercise from your shortcuts i.e I removed treadmill not really used. Then add interval training to your list - change the times and good to go! 🙂
