Heart rate measurement

I have used my Charge 2 for a wide range of exercises over the past year or so. These include pilates, running, cycling (outdoors), hiking, weight training and general cardio work. The heart rate measurement is not perfect but is pretty good, except with stationary cycling where for some reason, for most if not all of the session it reflects the pedalling rate.

I have tried changing wrist, putting it inside the wrist, leaning forward or backwards, different arm placements, all to no avail. It is the same on both electronic bikes and spinning type bikes ( although as I say, it is ok cycling on the road).

I have tried the online help service who were helpful but couldn’t suggest a solution that worked.

Am I alone in this or do others find the same?

@Kravman2 Welcome to the Fitbit Community! It's great to have you here!

Let me help you with your heart rate measurement while doing cycling. This could be due to the arm position or due to the sweat on your wrist. When you bike outdoors the wind will dry the sweat. I suggest you clean the back of your device with cotton and rubbing alcohol and restart it. Turn the heart rate off, save and sync then turn it on save and sync again. Also check these tips to improve the heart rate reading on your device. When doing the exercise try using a sport wristband to remove the sweat from the area.

Let me know how it goes.

I tried everything suggested and although I haven’t had time for a long
session on the exercise bike things are looking promising. In a quick 10
Minute session the monitor recorded a much more accurate heart rate. I
could be wrong but positioning the band higher up the arm seemed to make
particular difference. I will know better after a long session but so far
so good.
Thank you.
