Heart rate not working on my Charge 2

Replies are disabled for this topic. Start a new one or visit our Help Center.

Today I noticed my Charge 2 not showing heart rate, only shows two lines (--). Immediately went to tracker user guide, troubleshooting guide to try to fix the problem but so far no luck. In reviewing my heart rate history, I see that the last time it worked in reading my heart rate was on March 8. I have tried restarting, changing heart rate settings (off, on, auto), re syncing, and nothing has worked. Previously I owned a Charge HR but broke and I replaced with Charge 2 thinking it would be a nice upgrade with new/improved features, don't want to regret making the purchase. I've only had it for about 2 weeks. Please help!

Hi Welcome to the forums!

Try restarting it more than once

Do it at least 3 times.

I just bought one for the first time. Mine doesnt seem to keep the correct heart rate. I was on the treadmill working up a good sweat and it said my heart was 50 lol.

Had some wonky things going on with my charge 2 I've had and used cont for 11 months, texted their service dept for other ideas other than normal.  They have a one year warranty and honored it.

Did you figure out how to fix this problem?  When I take my own heart rate in a good hiit workout it is about 160 when I count...Fitbit shows 108!  I can't seem to get it to read accurate.

I have a similar issue that just started a few days ago.  I have has my Charge 2 for over a year and it had worked fine till now.   Most of the time the heart rate just shows -- but once in a while it will suddenly start showing a inflated number that is almost twice my actual heart rate. Scary...  I then looked at my history over the last few days and it is showing me in cardio/fat burning areas nearly all day, which is incorrect.  I have been monitoring manually since noticing this in case I was actually having a heart issue, but  my rate is right where it is supposed to be (about half what the Charge 2 is showing when it's not displaying --).   I have tried resetting it several times and changing from auto to on, changed the band tightness, etc.  no affect.   I'll be calling support soon.

Me too and I'm very disappointed. Once I start a good sweat my Charge 2 reads "--" BPM and it's precisely for monitoring my heart during a workout that I bought the **ahem** thing for....

I'm having similar issues. Is your heart pattern similar to what shown below on mine?

Heart_rate.jpg

Have tried the 3 x reset trick - no bueno. Actually did the reset 6x (so twice the amount just to be sure). The green leds are constantly blinking so the sensors are working. Think its a software / firmware glitch.

Check your sleep pattern to see if your sleep stages have disappeared too. Fitbit needs heart rate to determine various sleep stages and if the heart rate sensor goes, then so does your sleep stages.

I've now switched the heart rate to ON via the iPhone app and will report back if this can at least get me out of the grave and back to the land of the living.:)

I have the same problem. My Fitbit is a little over a year old. They will do nothing about it but offer 25 percent successor on another. Won't but another Fitbit. This is the second and last one I will buy..

I've had great luck with mine since I learned how to set it to the type of workout I am doing.  It is normally present to run, but now I set it to workout or weights, depends in what I'm doing.  Seems to be pretty accurate since!

I've the same issue. Normally resting the device while on charge works but now nothing does. If I can't fix this it'll be the first and last Fitbit device I buy because 18 months of use for a £100+ product is not good enough.

Yes I've written to the company. Already ordered a different brand much cheaper with great reviews

Interesting thread.

I have had mine for 16 months and a few weeks ago the GPS tracking was way out. My daily walk of 7km would vary from 3 to 35! Bazaar.

Yesterday, again after my 7km walk, the heart rate showed as being constantly in the 130 region. Crazy, and a little scary. Usually I might peak at that rate momentarily. Once again the GPS tracking only showed 3.5km with a weird jagged line shooting out on the map on a route I did not take.

Do these devices just pack up after a year or so? As others have said, it is not worth paying out in excess of £120 for one year of use.

Update.  I contacted Fitbit and they wouldn't replace it as it was over the 1 year warranty (by a few months), but they did give me a discount for another purchase...  I expected better, but whatever.

Funny thing I noticed that may help others.  When this broken fitbit was sitting alone on the couch, it started buzzing with an award notification (I had not worn it in at least a week at this point, but had charged it the night before as I was planning to contact fitbit the next day).  I picked it up and it was showing a heartbeat of 115...  Perhaps a ghost is wearing this old fifbit now?

Exact same problem, my charge 2 stopped reporting heart rate a couple of days ago. I've tried the multiple reset cycle with no luck. I noticed though looking at the back of the watch, that while the two green lights are on, there seems to be a crack in the cover of the chip(?) in the middle.

(oh, and despite an image embed in the editor, the forum wouldn't let me embed an image …)

That is exactly my problem.

My Fitbit will now only hold charge for about an hour. What a disappointment and no assistance from Fitbit. Moving on to Garmin.

I had an easy, quick, and great interaction with Fitbit customer service. They replaced my fitbit free of charge due to the damage to the plastic screen protecting the sensor. Try using Fitbit support Chat.
