Yes they contacted to ask my country of residence and date of purchase to determine whether they could help me. Hopefully they can resolve this and it is a faulty product rather than an indication that the Fitbit doesn’t actually track heart rate, but guesses it...

Hi,

I've had my Versa Fitbit for several months (love it) however, I can't wear my fitbit at work and there hasn't been a problem except for in the last 3 days it has just started to guess my heart rate (really high), gives me extra calories (almost double) and tells me I'm at asleep during the hours I'm not wearing my Fitbit (the solid blue -  like when you fall asleep for less than 3 hours).  On the 2nd day of the Fitbit guessing, an update came through, which I installed, however, on the 3rd day I still had the same problem.

I've seen your responses which says to turn the HR off and to sync - however, where do I find this?

Thanks

Lesley

Hey @Harriet852, let me give you a warm welcome to the Community! Yes, In order to fix this, here you'll find some troubleshooting you can follow:

- Try changing the setting (either Auto to On or On to Auto) and then syncing your watch. To find the heart rate sensor options, just go to the Settings on your Versa, then scroll down and you'll find heart rate.

Give it a try and let me know how it goes!

Hi, I've tried all these suggestions too  and I'm having the same issue with my Charge 2 (guessing my HR when I'm not wearing it). My HR is also consistently 15-20bpm higher than a manual check.

In summary, here's what I've tried:

1) restarted it

2) turned HR off, sync, then to auto, sync - this worked this morning for a little while, went to "--" after about 10 secs

3) when 2 stopped helping, I repeated step 2 but switched it to on

I'm running the latest firmware (22.22.55.2) and software.

Mine has been in my handbag for about an hour now and is still reading a HR of 106bpm. I'm a naturally anxious person, but I doubt I'm projecting my HR through solid surfaces!

Has been happening on and off since the last update. Before that my app wasn't displaying live HR at all, and now it says my resting HR has increased by 12bpm in the last month, which is admittedly possible, but I suspect it is related to the HR issue.

Help would be appreciated.

Mine is doing the same thing. I can be on the treadmill and it reads “- -“ and am also noticing a higher rate than the actual rate. I have an issue with my heart where it can race. I often see my heart is beating 100 and then when I take it with my own fingers I know it’s beating at 65. I’ve tried the same things to no avail.

@SueMomma622, it is great to see you around more often! Just to confirm, I'd like to know if you already tried the following so your Charge 2 reads your BPM instead of just this "--":

    a. Switch HR setting to off and sync.
    b. Switch HR setting to Auto and sync.
    c. Wait at least 60 seconds before checking heart rate again

    d.  Restart the Charge 2

    e. Review the wearing tips in this post

     f. Just in case, review the factors that could impact your heart rate readings

Let me know how it goes!

Hi there

Yes, I have tried these steps. They worked for.me initiay but had the same problem almost immediately.

I was contacted by Fitbit support quick smart (less than 24 hours), who confirmed that I had a faulty unit and they have sent a replacement 👍

I was impressed with the response time.

Hello. Yes I’ve tried this twice now and last night while I was in the shower my husband said he kept checking and it was showing a heart rate then I had the dash marks again.

Thanks for taking the time to try the tips that I posted @SueMomma622! Oh! So after a few minutes of not wearing it, the Charge 2 is showing the two dashes and not an imaginary heart rate. How long after you take it off do the dashes appear? Please keep an eye on this and let me know how it goes.

The other night while taking my shower it showed a heart rate while I was not wearing it.  Then when I put it on it shows the dashes.  Yesterday and today it will sync with my phone and is only showing a resting heart rate.   Very frustrating as I watch my heart rate   All the time

It shows a heart rate when I’m not wearing it and then shows the dashes frequently. I now have the problem of it not showing a heart rate on my phone except for the resting rate. Very frustrating

Fitbit sent me a replacement Fitbit, but the problem persists. I suspect that it is evidence that the hr monitor is so inaccurate that the numbers actually rely on movement rather than any actual measurement of heart rate. I feel pretty disappointed about that, and don’t think any number of replacements will fix it 😞
