Hello,
Today i went into settings to check if you can change the heart rate zones. Reason is, the fitbit always tells that i am in peak zone all the time during a run although in reality i am in cardio zone (if you also consider cardiovascular fitness).
Then i noticed this:
The thing is. It does not do that for me at all. The link brings you to a page which basically says that it does use the "new" formula (based on age and fitness) for the new Fitbit models, but not the old ones.
Now it raises the questions for me:
Why does it tell me that it uses my cardiovascular fitness to determine my HR-Zs when in reality it does not? At least the link says that the new formula is only used on newer models. Is there a way to make it work for me?
Is this feature really just only for the newer models? The "old" formula (based only on age) is just... a pretty bad approximation compared to the new one, at least for me it is. Comparing both formulas it differs between 10 to 20 BPM for each specific zone for me.
As I said, im getting told that I am in Peak zone all the time during a run which, all things considered, is just wrong. I see no point in locking such a thing behind new models. It's not like it is a new metric or function. It just improves on an already existing function which hadn't been all too great before for some people. I feel like this should be part of a usual App update and nothing more.
And is there a workaround? Is there a way to manually change the zones?
