Welcome to fitbit!

Actually those numebrs may be ok.

As well as tracking calories burned through activity your fitbit also tracks your BMR calories. These are the calories you burn just keeping your body alive (even when asleep). They are calculated from your profile settings for age, height, weight etc so you needn't be wearing your fitbit to get them. What you are seeing includes the total BMR calories burned since midnight.

Hello there @Tommy2Fingers, welcome to the Community Forums. Thanks for the details provided.

As my friend @SteveH explained, when you create a Fitbit account, the website uses your physical data (weight, height etc) to calculate your BMR calories. These are the minimum calories you'd need to burn every day to stay alive. It then populates your profile with this calorie burn back for six months or so to give you a sensible baseline against which to compare your future calorie burn once your tracker starts tracking your exercise and adding exercise calories to your BMR calories.

The short answer is that what you're seeing is correct behavior and the calorie counts re-individualized to you. You can find more information at: How does my Fitbit device calculate calories burned?

You might want to reread my earlier post.

You don't need to wear your fitbit for it to track BMR calories

The calories shown include the BMR calories burned since midnight

Hi @Tommy2Fingers, thanks for getting back.

Agree with @SteveH. No worries, your Charge 3 is going fine so far. The value that you see on your tracker after setting it up is your estimated calorie burn for the day so far.

As stated, we estimate your calorie burn based on your age, gender, height and weight. You burning calories even when you are sleeping or just sedentary. When you are not wearing your Fitbit then it is estimate your passive calories burned. That what you see on the dashboard after the set up.

Keep us posted if you have further questions. 😉
