actually, the answer that's considered "best answer" it's not quite right! there is an unfortunate quirk in the charge 4's user interface. if you disable disable heartrate zone notifications in settings on the tracker,, and later add an additional exercise to the tracker (via the Fitbit app), the newly added exercise defaults to heartrate notifications enabled, even though you have heartrate notifications disabled in settings on the tracker. and if you check the status of heart rate notifications for the newly added exercise, it does not show that heart rate notifications are enabled for it, but instead indicates that heart rate notifications are disabled in settings. but if you he particular exercise you just added on the charge for in the tracker, and swipe down on that exercise, it doesn't show that the notifications for that newly installed exercise are actually enabled, instead it just indicates that notifications for heart rate zones are disabled in settings. In order to disable heartrate notifications for the newly added exercise, you need to first enable heartrate notifications again in settings, and then disable heartrate notifications for each type of exercise that you have installed onto the tracker. But simply disabling heartrate notifications in settings on the tracker does not appear to stop the notifications for exercises that have it enabled individually.
you need to enable heart rate notifications in setting on your tracker, then go to the individual exercises and disable heart rate notifications on the ones you don't want notifications from. IMO it's a bug!
