Hi @Milly20
To adjust the brightness on the Fitbit Charge 3 - Go into the Settings app on your device, find the brightness setting, and tap to change it.
Please let me know if this helps.

Does anyone know why I can't see my clock face when I'm out running? I can't see my charge 3 outside when its bright and sunny. My setting is set on "normal" and is bright enough inside, but outside it is very dim and can't make it out at all!

Me neither...worked out any solution? I have mine on auto brightness in the hope it becomes brighter in the sunlight!?

When I am outside in the sun I can’t see the clock. I tried all the settings normal and automatically. Does someone have a solution?

Has there been any resolution for this? I feel like it’s getting worse. I can’t see anything outside and the smaller numbers are getting difficult to see inside unless I’m in a completely dark room.

So my charge 3 (less than 1 year old) has suddenly grown dimmer to the point it is unusable in sunlight. I’ve tried rebooting, changing clock faces, changing the brightness settings and finally installing the new firmware (today). No joy - still largely unreadable outside.
Another observation is that in the settings menu, the leftmost characters are slightly cutoff on the screen.
Would like to know next what to try. I’m trying to be patient but this is 3rd Charge that I’ve owned - each lasting on or about a year before there is a serious fault.

Same problemk as marie5963. Today my husband tried to find the brightness setting, and the screen became totally unreadable. He had to go into a totally dark room and guess at the taps to get the screen back. Normal is barely readable in a normally lit room. I think "Auto" made the screen unreadable. I am puzzled because some of the videos we saw trying to figure out how to get the screen back, like the one at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2WX6vT0N4J0 show a brightly lit screen!

Put your Fitbit in the charger and press the side button for 8 seconds when you see the smile . It should reboot your Fitbit charge 3 and Smile again , you can go to the settings and adjust brightness from Dim to Bright .
sorted mine out in about 2 minutes
There is a video on YouTube to watch .

I started having the same issue recently and seems to be after the most recent update I did to the fitbit. Customer support only says its no longer under warranty and here is 35% off to buy a new one. If anyone figures out a fit or has left and gone to something else that has better warranty, might as well go with an apple watch if fitbit is only going to last 1-2 years and not stand behind their products.

The solution they gave me was for me to go buy a new one. Super frustrated they wont stand behind their product anymore.

Yeah. Not terribly satisfying response. In the end I picked up a new Charge 4 from online retailer (proof of purchase archived) and opted for 24 month insurance plan.
Normally, I’d purchase from local shop, but I can’t stay on top of the receipts. With the insurance, I figure I’m covered for 24 months.
I still find Fitbit a less intrusive option - I’ll take charging every 5-6 days over devices that require charging daily “any day”.

Unfortunately the bright option has gone now and in its place is Auto which makes the screen too dim to read in bright sunlight. I wish they’d restore the option to choose Bright

This worked as soon as I realized I needed to do it on the device, not the app! 🤦:female_sign:
