I've been tracking runs using the Fitbit app on my iPhone. Even though I have auto tracking turned off on my watch, once I start running the watch apparently detects the run and starts prompting me to start tracking. I always shake it off but last week I inadvertently did something to make the watch think I did want to track. As I was busy running I didn't have the chance to stop it and it tracked the run simultaneously with the tracking on the phone, not at all what I wanted.
Why does the watch not coordinate with the phone to know the run is already being tracked? The phone app always works fine but why is the watch constantly asking me to track the run through it? How do I disable it so that I can just use the phone app?

It's great to see you around, @kemccarthy1.
Can you please be more specific about the issue you are having? Did your Charge 3 register your exercise? You can always check the article: How do I track my workouts with my Fitbit device?.
I hope to hear from you soon.

It seems to have worked itself out over time.
Originally I turned off automatic tracking and would only track exercise manually on my iPhone whenever I ran. When I was done I would turn off tracking on the phone. However when I would look at the Fitbit it had apparently started tracking the run on its own parallel to the one I had started on the phone and I had to turn it off there too, On my phone it showed that the run had been tracked two times.
This hasn't occurred for a long time now though so perhaps one of the software updates has corrected the issue since I last saw it.
